Switches are the main killer, yes.
I personally would prefer to just have attenuverters if it would save a lot on production and end cost. The matrix here is definitely the strong point, and attenuverters would give the same bipolar end result as switches, no?
Anyway I am loving the progress of this module and it will fill a big gap in my banana system )
Boards due in imminently - though winding down for Christmas now.
There's also a 3 channel DC Mixer entering production too - a simpler little utility.

Will there be a way of using this standalone? I really hope so, been looking for something like this for while
You can use anything as standalone, as you long as have a case to hold it and power for it, incl. GND connection.
Is this what you mean with standalone, using it outside of a BugBrand system, or you mean something else?

Yes, I was certainly presuming to offer some as standalone in my regular 5FW cases - as Batchas mentions, just ensure there's a common 0V between systems via the black 4mm socket on the rear, then you're good to go.
Thanks, yes exactly in a powered case would be ideal.
I don't have any modular banana gear, I primarily use Ciat Lonbarde instruments so a standalone mixer in a powered box I can move around is what I would want. I think this would be a nice addition.
While this does look outstanding as designed, I think it would benefit from an expander module to incorporate 1/4" i/o. The inability to interface easily with the red modules would be a missed opportunity, IMHO.
That being said... the DRM2 output seems pretty generous with the level. I usually have it set about 9 o'clock position. With the pot at maximum, would the pre-amp module be necessary? Or would a simple passive format converter suffice?
Aye, I have one of those (and a format jumbler), but tabling the different levels for now (I find the preamps on the reds are quite effective at booting and attenuating), one runs out of space on the tabletop when relying on external boxes. A 2u expander panel even would be swell, and it could inherit all the electrical connections from the matrix mixer.

I don't think there's anything much like this and it is actually happening - out soon.
How soon is wowwwwwwwwww

There won't be a direct expander - read through the thread for a bit of an overview of why I moved away from 1/4" and the necessary preamps / gain controls etc. By the way, it is DC coupled and is made with quality opamps & 0.1% resistors.
There's nothing particular to say you can't mix line level signals with modular - but I didn't want to add complexity here.
Could easily be put in a frame with one of more Dual Preamps for inputs and then perhaps a DIY interface/adaptor panel (might sometime do a proper one but I personally always use interface cables).
Guess I can't win all options but I don't think there's anything much like this and it is actually happening - out soon.
[saying that I was again let down by UK PCB panel company so have only limited good panels for now]
Price likely to be around £300 (exc. VAT) as a module.
I’ll start saving up for this! I really like the design, and LOVE that there are banana ins and outs! For my use, within my Bug-modular it makes a lot of sense.
Nice work Tom, looking forward
