really cool set-up/procees. sounds great. I love the tape loop set up. reminds me of the first installation I was part of at NIU in 1983. the whole music bld was set up with installations of various sorts. the large entry way had tape loops that must have been 30 feet long (as I remember it...)was trying to get a gig again at the LAb for next week but it didnt work out. great place.
some modular action in town next ncluding oakland if you like it. sorry for the shameless self promotion and cross post.
cheers
a bunch of upcoming events, heavy on modulars, easy on the laptop and a modicum of cocoquantus...

DJ/live set performance on KFJC 89.7FM Los Altos Hills, California
stream:
http://www.kfjc.org/
Generously hosted by Nozmo King. Illusion of Safety's Dan Burke presents the voice of reason from 7-10 PM:
a mind boggling eclectic mix of EVERYTHING. No holds barred: live performance with laptop, ciat-lonbarde cocoquantus, & eurorack modular synth, records, cds & tapes: rock, electronic, classical, improv, prog, funk, fusion, techno, mash-up, 20th-century classical, spoken word, music concrete, noise, minimalism, atonal, ambient, jazz, 80's, sometimes all at the same time. Purity vs. density. quiet & serene to brutal & cacophonous. Nothing is sacred.
Incorporating: "Patchworks" from 9-10PM (PDT) focusing on groundbreaking and mundane old and new synthesizer music and primarily modular synth music made by members of the Muffwiggler forum.
Dan has been presenting this eclectic mix of sound and music on WNUR since summer of 2012. currently on hiatus but scheduled to resume action summer 2013.

Modular Mavens: Lords of the Synth
Solo sets and small clusters of uncertain sources. Sound <-> image <-> systems linked by endless wires. All systems go. All evening long. Please join us for our sacrificial interstitial sacrilegious and downright pagan praise of modular synthesis.

Dan Burke and Thomas Dimuzio are like magnetic poles: locking tightly on one side, yet pulling apart as polar opposites on the other. Equally inspired by sound, noise, static, interference, transcendence, and song, this dynamic duo can summon the demons of hell while ascending to ethereal realms. Ripe with juxtaposition, or unfolding into long and intense suspensions, and even verging on melodicism as documented on their live recordings Hz (Sonoris) and Upcoming Events (No Fun Productions). “Quiet can be the loud, and loud can be the quiet - if someone can proof that point then it's Thomas Dimuzio and Dan Burke.â€Â Vital Weekly

YurtYurt aka Josh Thomas. The brilliant Oakland based sonics and device crafter behind an amazing array of sound modules from his music electronics company, Toppobrillo. Incandescent transmissions - heat sinking low - switchboards singing - tubes ringing - venting valve vestiges

Fluorescent Grey, also known as Robbie Martin, has had his hand in well-known hoaxes and elaborate pranks, is the proprietor of Record Label Records, and a purveyor of compelling music and sound. His latest release Ambiente culls three CDs of recontextualized field recordings, sprawling drones, and incidental musics into a beautifully carved wooden box set. Delving deep into all areas of synthesis with an emphasis on modular, granular, and acoustic modeling, Robbie's experiential sound worlds fathom spaces yet to be seen.

Primitive Feast (aka Loachfillet). Somewhere, lurking between the labels of mad scientist, creepy ghetto goblin and modern electronic composer is where you'll find the creature Loachfillet. His musical ooze is crawling with sounds one feels deep within the curdles of their organs. Listening to his musique brings metallic vibrations slipping crispily into the space where your head digests and thought tunnels persist. Primitive Feast is his newest creation, concentrating mainly on analog synth, organic rhythmic pulses and reel to reel tape music.
