Barton CV Quantizer

Post by roglok » Tue Apr 03, 2012 2:42 am

Anybody know if Michael Barton is still in business?

I've sent a request for a Simple CV Quantizer about about two weeks ago – no reply yet...

Let me know how it goes. I wanted to order two of these, but this doesn't sound promising.

I ordered one about two months ago and received it rather quickly.

Also those BL cv arpeggiators use his chip there's gotta be some around.

I have had some good experiences in the past. Maybe he's out skiing ;)
Mix of vintage and Eurorack and Buchla. Some sounds at: http://soundcloud.com/p3t0r

I bought a few boards from him a couple of months ago - delivery took a little while, but I'm in Australia so I'm used to it :)
I had no trouble and he responded to my emails quite quickly and was friendly and helpful with my questions. I did a quick review of my BMC-003 build experience at the bottom here: http://electro-music.com/forum/viewtopi ... c&start=75

If he has indeed stopped selling them, could anyone suggest any other easy to build or interesting quantizers? Preferably one that I can buy a pcb for or is easy to etch.

I just built 2 of the MFOS units, seemed pretty easy to build to me. The only hard (time consuming, expensive??) part was matching up all the resistors for the R/2R ladders, other than that they were pretty straight-forward. Check them out at the MFOS Voltage Quantizer page.

I hope he's ok. His projects are so well documented and I was looking forward to the complex quantizer.

Has anyone heard anything from him? I have a friend who really wants me to build a dual Quantizer.

I also hope he's alright, since I still haven't heard from him. Maybe he's on a sabbatical or a very long vacation ... :despair:

I emailed him a few days ago, just got a reply and a Paypal invoice as well. Looks like he's alive, well, and still doing business.

...not to mention he had some pretty cool looking things in the works that I was hoping would see the light of day.

If some of you needs an eurorack panel, we try to be at least 5 wigglers to have it done by julian (UK). More informations here:
