Rogan knobs group buy

Post by decaying.sine »

A couple of us wanted to start a thread to see if there are wigglers interested in a Rogan knob group buy. These are the knobs used on some Buchla modules and an example can be seen below in zthee's JH FS-1A design.

Some Basic Information
oberkorn was kind enough to do some background research on the knobs and it appears that there is a minimum of 500 required to make a purchase. The price per part for Model RB67 size '0' skirted in Blue 1/4" shaft (e.g., range, fm and cv tune on the fs-1a module below) is:
For an order of 500 pieces: $0.85 per part
For an order of 1000 pieces: $0.79 per part

The Rogan website is: http://roganknobs.com/

Initially, we have interest in all three sizes used by Buchla in both red and blue color. I'll post the model numbers and links to the specifications in the original post once we collect all the fine details. If you are interested in purchasing some of these knobs, let us know here.

Knob Types and Options
Unskirted Knobs
The unskirted knobs have two types. There is a deep core version and a standard round version. Please note that having the painted indicator line is not a default option. There is no indicator line on the small unskirted knobs in the FS-1A picture below, but there is an indicator line on some of the other unskirted knobs pictured.

Rounded (non-deep core) Version: http://rogan.rogancorp.com/item/rb67-se ... /item-1904?

Skirted Knobs
Size "0" Skirted Version: http://rogan.rogancorp.com/item/rb67-se ... |1057|1087

See picture above for Size "0" Skirted Version of knobs.

Size "xxx" Skirted Version: I will add the link with the specifications when I find out exactly the right size.[/i]

Are you saying they don't make these for fully round 1/4" shafts?
Only D-shaft?

I'd be interested in probably 6 or 8 of the big ones, and a bunch of the smaller ones, not sure exactly which of which quite yet. sounds promising though.

I think they work best on round shafts and not the D-shafts. However, I think that we should verify this for everyone.

If you have an E-M group buy Rogan knob from the most recent purchase, can you verify if these fit the round AND d-shaft alpha pots?

I'll ask Rogan for samples, but I am sure they will say F-me.

If anyone has exact specs from other group buys, let me know. I am going to start requesting formal quotes from Rogan on monday. I think the one that I need a model number for is the large skirted knob. What size is that bitch? The others seem to be size "0."

I'd like some red knobs.

It's been pointed out, but maybe worth saying, the red knobs on the 208, 297, system interface, etc are sized in between the small "0" and large "2A". So, if one orders them as RB67, they'd have to be size "1". The only other red knobs are the skirtless "0" used only on the 208.

Original Buchla knobs used only one set screw.
