First off I'm useless
Been toying with the idea (along with Petur and Jonatan) of taking the idea of Jeri Ellsworth
http://www.jeriellsworth.com/?p=19
and modding that so that all the step, spin, read, write functions were CV controllable and then instead of digitally writing to the floppy, do the analogue read, write mod.
With the best intentions had a crack at it today, and i got as far as getting the head to step backwards and forwards, and starting and stopping the motor. Then sort of hit a blocker and opened a beer. At the moment have little free time, so I think instead of just sitting on the idea - I'd share it. Would rather have been able to post a step by step guide on here how to make it - alas.
Thought would post this here incase it inspires anyone. The floppy drive needs 5v for control and 12v for motor (so disregarding current draw - 300mA i think I read, it should be able to mount it in a euro case) and then I was piecing together various info from

Special prize if any manages to get one running and working.
