A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
Noise and S&H for me as well. This is actually the main module I am missing across all my modulars, so would be awesome to get it added to the bugs, since that's my newest addition.
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
Noise and s&h, slew, and most essentially, a vector-soliton resonator.
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
Noise/S&H and Slew are somewhat bubbling.
What the dotdot is a "vector-soliton resonator"?!
Oh, "a solitary wave with multiple components coupled together that maintains its shape during propagation"
Well that surely clears that up!

Hahaha, I was just kidding! Made me realise It's actually kinda hard to think about something new or way out there... +1 for phaser and freq shifter. Since I really like the EQ, I'd be curious about a mono compressor (possibly dirty or characterful, or with the option to be).
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
I second the slew limiter as well, found myself wanting one in this weekends patch.

May have already posted similar but would really love to use the bus switch on the ddsr and clock divider. How about a simple-ish clock module with a fine tune range knob, FM modulation jack and attenuator, clock/sync in and some built in (binary?) division outs able to feed the bus internally and for external use? Haven't thought it through but there may be potential need for other useful features but a 1fw unit would be nice IMO

A phaser and frequency shifter preferably stand alone.
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
Phaser + Freq Shifter + Slew (maybe 4x slews in 1FW ) + Fader / Pan reissue please!

What would a non-compact VCO look like?

If at first you don't succeed read the instruction manual.

Actually, I had sketched this up, though feel it could do with some tweaky (and haven't done initial tests on 2130 yet)
Any larger VCO would likely be this sort of arrangement - I'd sketched out similar layouts for Expanded VCO a few times over the last years.

Looks exciting to me!

2130 = Through-Zero FM and PM... Yummy yummyBugBrand wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 8:48 am Actually, I had sketched this up, though feel it could do with some tweaky (and haven't done initial tests on 2130 yet)

Confession - I've only got a couple of reds so far, but if this makes it I'll likely make the jump into blue. No pressure.

A filter with the potential for steeper slopes would be the icing on the cake.

a variable wave out + Wave CV input would be nice too ;-)
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
I didn't dare ask, but indeed this would be killer. Though there's always the question of space, ergonomy, circuit size etc etc.
Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
That looks amazing. I really like the idea of a 2FW expanded oscillator. Besides it having space for more features I like the feel of a primary oscillator being larger than 1FW and having a larger tuning knob.BugBrand wrote: ↑Mon Nov 23, 2020 8:48 am Actually, I had sketched this up, though feel it could do with some tweaky (and haven't done initial tests on 2130 yet)

One thing that I’ve been daydreaming about lately is a BugBrand Red audio mixer with 1/4” i/o, an effect send/return per channel, and VC panning. That would be amazing.

I was gonna come on here and say how that's a cool idea but not necessarily practical considering external mixers can be had for relatively cheap... but the more I wrote in my reply the more I decided I really want it

Would certainly compliment a predominately Red setup geared towards processing. It would be chunky though... i can see the advantage of 1/4 send/returns as well as banana.

Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
This thread inspired me to kill a lunch hour - I'm not at home with my modules and it's too cold to go outside.
Imagine a "scanning" 1:4 switch where the destinations are selected using binary logic. I just went with a distribution that looked better than "doubling up" the Binary Block's eight stages, but there's probably an ideal assignment.
The top part is signal input and the three CV inputs and switches familiar from the BugBrand Binary Block and DDSR.
Bottom part is four rows representing four selectable stages/outputs. For each row, there is:
(Left side)
I've attached a Draw.io file if anyone wants to play around with this idea.
Hell, I'd like to have one in 4u...

- An attenuverter for the incoming signal (or pots with a three-way switch, which seems more "BugBrand")
- An LED.
- A potentiometer that controls a simple slew limiter modulating the outgoing VCA. This is like extracting a 5v gate from the logic signal that selects the stage and ranges from instant rise+fall to a slow rise+fall - like putting a gate through a slew limiter without independent rise and fall settings. If you've used the Serge Smooth Generator, it'll make sense.
- An output banana jack.

Re: A somewhat selfish list of things I'd like to see Tom make
I'm a little puzzled by this and may simply be missing your point. Why are there "three CV inputs and switches familiar from the BugBrand Binary Block and DDSR" when this is a 4 way switch? Two would be enough. I also don't understand how the switch relates to the sluggish (slewed control) VCAs.
