Yeah, I've definitely thought around such areas.

Nope - starve hasn't had much of a sniff in modular-land &, frankly, never felt right in the modular Weevil - it didn't in any way capture the true starve chaos of the simple CMOS weevils.

I miss that weird slew-y sound of a 'stable' starved boardweevil2012. Time to get it out of the cupboard 😊

Is there any chance you could offer PCBs of the board chirper and / or 2015 weevil?
Or open source the layouts?

No worries if not, but I though it might be a nice way for these synths to continue.

Oh, I do wonder about open-source sometimes but then time gets the better of me.
BChirpers are still in production though - I just haven't had them built / in-stock of late.

There is one on Reverb right now for $872.06 in USD. Twice retail - a little high for my budget.

Chirpers are chameleons. Here's a recording pairing a drone with some rhythmic elements. One Chirper is the simple bass sound and its second oscillator sometimes triggers Dual Filters to make higher plinky percussive sounds. The other Chirper is the drone. A DDSR and various cyclic CV sources provide note by note variation. There's a Grilles with a minimal drum kit laying down an unobtrusive beat. I'm flying the drone, mixing and tweaking.

This is live improvisation on a predominantly BugBrand system (two frac rows, one euro row). Live-ness is one constraint and keeping the system small is another. I think a key factor is to keep some looseness in it.

There’s on one Reverb for $600 USD. If I hadn’t just broke my bank with some old blues, I might pick it up.

I came up with this during my recent 10day covid stint (fully recovered now).
Squished the Chirper design down to a 3FW module with just a few changes
- added unattenuated v/oct inputs (but the design remains fairly basic - not temp or hi-freq compensated)
- added an external input to the filter
Reckon I'll do a 1FW expander (thoughts bubbling already) with 1/4" output and a few little extras so that a 5FWx case can house it along with a forthcoming 1FW Drive-VCA.

Thought so. Super interesting Tom, had always thought the new system could do with a replacement for the syn1 and while this isn't the same at all it is similar in its versatility and breadth of sound. Would love to try one paired with an envelope and vca for percussive sounds.

Cool, will it have the clocking output on the back for connecting to DDSR?

Nice bit of miniaturisation there! Is the filter out the main out so to speak?

I've got the original Chirper and interface it with Eurorack through a jumbler. Which means it sits outside the case, lonely, apart from the rest of the modules. I'd definitely be interested in a small case to house this new chirper plus the expander and VCA. Maybe another of your modules too? It does depend on price, but it would be amazing if you could offer an all-in-one solution for Frac-curious people like me, with the case, power and modules included. It would really take away the complexity and i'd be willing to invest in that. What do you think of this idea?

Whenever i've taken the Chirper to synth meets it's got a lot of attention, as while it seem like a simple machine the sound is a winner winner chicken dinner :chicken:

Edit: i've just seen, 5FW cases are already on the website: https://www.bugbrand.co.uk/product/stan ... case-5fwx/ I didn't know that, this plus the Chirper, expander and VCA would make a very nice stand alone instrument.

This looks great! Seems very complementary to the DRMs.

The circuit-naive part of me wonders why not introduce the 2130 chip into the Chirper?

This looks great Tom!! I guess I’ve said this a zillion times before, but I do ❤️ both the red and board version! I’m sure this ones gonna be great too. Have you considered a (basic) ring mod-ish feature on any of the planned «expanders»/VCA’s?
