Buchla 100 Quad / Hex AR Envelope DIY

Post by Ebolatone »

Based upon the 410 module cluster, a discrete envelope requiring +24V and producing +15V outputs. An old layout version but here it is.

There is a quad comparator section to provide looping etc. from the 212 envelope which is supposed to fire when the input reaches 0.2VDC. Never got it to work so perhaps someone here...would require the Mode switch to be dual, with one side using a +15V source through a diode and RC to produce a pulse, out to the gate input.

You're on fire Mike.
Question. What would this do on +15 PSU? Nothing? Or just less voltage at the out?

I'm asking this, because I'd love to build a hex version into my system (never enough ADs actually), but +24V is ... ouch :D

This is an old layout of an old build. Circumstances merit the release of all I've done thus far. Regarding changing the voltage: I've thought about it but not tried it. Not sure if the circuit would cease functioning or if that would only scale it down. +24V wall warts are about $10 so I don't worry about it.

I see.
Yeah, sounds more logical to drill a simple inlet to the house instead of designed a board with a dc-dc converter.
I think I'll give this a try, 'cause my good friend, Peter, still has not finished the single sided 281 board design... :D

Hi, many thanks for this and other layouts, they always work great. 1 error which prevents it from working is 22K resistor next to the jumper should be 3.3K

Note that the comparator on the quad PCB above didn't work

yes, I used your hex env. layout 🙏 , checking it against the part info on the quad version and after changing to 3.3k it works perfectly, maybe that little thing was the issue?

A new quad envelope coming soon, single-sided home-etch PCB and Front Panel Express panel. Same circuit as above, requires +24V, can output either or both +15V and +10V depending upon use in a 100 or 200 system or both. Front panel based directly upon the 280. PCB-mount switches and pots.

Peake, where can one find etch files for your other Buchla DIY stuff? I tried to follow links from your blog but they were all outdated.

Usually they're here on Muff's if you search the forum

Thanks. Is there no one single place I can grab them all, or should I just search manually for each one? To be honest I'm not even sure exactly what stuff you've done etch files for...

If there's a page at blogspot.ebolatone.com there is likely an etch available. Excepting the 258B.

Thanks Peake. Just so you know, most of the etch links on your blog go to 'page not found' on muffs, e.g. here.

Yes, I know. Lost the password to the blog quite a while ago so I can't update that. Search Muff's DIY for the same module and there they are. Some are on electro-music. I have updated versions of the 144 and 158 I build to order with a couple of extra features.

Ah, thanks for the pointers. Sorry about the password issues - I know the feeling!
