106 Chorus by FEEDBACK [UPDATE]

The 106 CHORUS is an accurate recreation in Eurorack format of one of the most sought after choruses, the one from a famous analog polysynth from the eighties :)
The module is built with high quality parts, alpha pot, panasonic low esr electrolitic capacitors. Also the module repects the ROHS standard, high quality ROHS solder wire was used.

> Tech specs:

-width 6HP
-49.5mm depth
-mono analog input
-input level pot for optimal signal
-stereo analog output (L + R)
-bypass switch (ON / BYPASS)
-chorus mode switch (MODE1 / MODE2)
-standard 10 pin euro power (+12V / -12V)
-power consumption +12V 24mA , -12V 24mA

Here are two demos of the module :

First demo is a simple sound from ambika to 106 Chorus.
(no chorus/chorus1/chorus2/no chorus/chorus1/chorus2)

https://soundcloud.com/strat1/106-choru ... mbikato106

In second demo we used 2 System-X VCOs to 106 Chorus.
https://soundcloud.com/strat1/106-choru ... -xvcoto106

First track is with no chorus, second Chorus I, after that Chorus II

Sounds nice. Never used a real one, only the vst. Its my favourite chorus for soft basses with a smooth filter.....

Wow! Sounds lush ... and I'm not much of a chorus user. Congratulations!

Yes, all the chips are the originals.
MN3009, MN3101 ic's and 2SK30A transistors are kept in the old format size. (axial),
I changed 4558 op-amps with the same SMD ones to have room for the parts, so all the circuitry is the same.
I did numerous test with 5 Slim modules and the big modules I sell DIY, and they have the same 106 sound.

Hi, I have a kit 3 from you and I have the full BOM from Farnell but I would very much like the skiff friendly version too. Can PP you immediately if you send me PP details.

Regards

I recently got the skiff friendly and finally found time to use it.
It's really great sounding. I was planning to put it in a system I use for processing keyboard synths (e.g. Jupiter 6), but it sounds great also with eurorack modules. Being playing an Aion oscillator and a Kermit through it, and they really shine.
If you're into vintage Roland sound, this module is a must IMO!

I never owned a Juno 106, but this chorus reminds a lot of the JP-3X. Besides the filter, the chorus is one of the key elements that contribute to its distinct sound.

if I didn't have a BX-8 already then I'd be all over these, such a good idea and they look very well done, great layout and knobs

I produced a larger quantity of choruses, so I had a discount at parts and boards. So I can sell the 106 Chorus at a lower price : 150EUR instead of 170EUR original price.

UPDATE : I updated the board to rev 1.1
- I rerouted the signal path a bit for a better functionality.
- I placed two chorus volume trimmers. If you are not satisfied with the standard fx mix setup, you can increase or decrease the chorus volume.
This help also for different gain MN3009s. The chorus chips used in the module may have different gain signals, so you can adjust them to have equal levels on both channels at the output.
