Clawbell is GO! CR5000 Clave / Cowbell PCB set

Post by falafelbiels »

I got new PCBs in for the Clawbell last week and they are good :bananaguitar:

We built up three over the weekend and did some value jiggling and they all worked first fireup

This is a clone of the Roland CR5000 clave and cowbell in one 4hp unit. I added comparators and made the tuning pots for the cowbell available on the front panel so the best thing to have is several!

It is a pretty straightforward build with no wiring and no hard to get parts.

Right now I have about ten PCB sets for anyone who is interested. I'm thinking €15 for a PCB set and €5 for a panel (ex VAT).
Oh I charge €3 P&P worldwide by the way.

Later this week I will update some audio/video and a BOM.

Anyone?

Paradigm X

Sure, why not?

================================

AND WE'RE OUT!

Just so you know what you are getting into:

This is two voices sharing one output. There are two trigger inputs, one for each voice.
Jiggling component values has some influence on the sound of course. i will point out what struck me as useful in the BOM

Furthermore it has no accent circuitry. In the CR5000 this is handled by a VCA chip elsewhere in the circuit and I figured this can be done modularly, keeping this one nice and compact.

If you are collecting percussive modules for your rack this can be a simple yet worthwhile addition, taking up not too much space. I like it anyway. Must work on a typical cowbell and clave rhythm sequencer...........

Please do bug me here if you missed out and want to see another run of these.

I was gonna do that anyway :hihi:

Clarke panels? You would have to talk to Chris at Synthcube for that. I'm all for it...

Uploaded a bit of dirty audio to the first post. Sorry about the poor quality, I never really record anything and there seems to be a lot of noise going. Need to find out where that comes from. Just listened to my drums seperatly and there was no disturbing noise like in the recording by far.

I'm in for one PCB+panel. Any strange or rare parts in the BOM that we need to know about?

BOM added to first post and there will be a next run for sure...

Thanks guys!

:sb:

Will be sending out PMs about paypal specifics and what not tomorrow.

I will be sticking to the "ivory" colored Perspex and wood panels for this. These are 3mm thick and if you want to fit it out with Thonkiconns they may need a bit of careful working on with a drill of some kind, but they will be fine.
Thonkiconns like 2mm panels better.
