MAT12,MAT14 and SSM2212 replacement for MAT02-04 and SSM2210

Post by Dego »

We wish to update you on the recent EOL notification for the MAT02, MAT04 and SSM2210 products. We are working on a process change to an existing ADI Wilmington bipolar process that will allow us to produce parts very close in performance to the existing MAT02/04 and SSM2210 devices. Because of the different process, the new parts will have new part numbers (MAT12 replacing MAT02 and MAT14 replacing MAT04, and SSM2212 replacing SSM2210).

The MAT12 will be available in a TO-78 can package. The SSM2212 will be available in a SOIC package, with PDIP still To be determined. We are projecting that all the new parts will come only in PbFree versions. Customers of present leaded versions are advised to move to Pbfree versions when the new products are available.

First wafers for MAT02/SSM2210 replacement are currently in fab on the new ADWil process with sampling dates in March. We estimate first production shipments of the MAT12 around June 2010. MAT04 will run 1-2 quarters behind MAT02/SSM2210 development.

We advise our customers to consider the MAT02, MAT04 and SSM2210 to be EOL as notified on the previous Notice, soon be replaced with the MAT12, MAT14 parts. We further advise our customers to take appropriate measures to ensure bridging inventories until such time that the new products can be qualified in their designs.

that's awesome news!!

TO-78 works just fine right? Wouldn't the MAT12 work as a replacement for the ssm2210? I thought the 2210 was initially sort of a replacement for the mat-02 and lm394 anyway right?

Reviving this thread...

I'd like a replacement for MAT04 and can't find any reference to a substitute.

Anyone know if a THAT300 is a candidate?

You can buy SOIC->DIP adapter PCBs for like $0.20/ea at Futurlec, and they're available elsewhere too, of course. It's a real simple way to convert the footprint.

Awesome! I spent some of my commute time today imagining how to do that DIY. Once again, I learn something new at Muffs!
