Jeez that's a ton of gear!!
Nice to see he's liking the API stuff, I really want that 550B EQ, yumm!!!

I don't see the SCI Studio 440 on his list, which was given to him by a friend in the 90s when he was starting out (read that somewhere)

Maybe he didn't use it this time. I doubt it's a complete list.

Its not complete because there is no EMS Synthi 100 listed.

Actually there is one of these close to where I'm located. I should go take some photos in front of it if I can as well, I mean I own a lab coat so why not?

^ there is a modulars category lol same deal w/ plugs

i'd guess the dots line up with the tracks used on. what do the black squares mean? and some stuff is listed and unused...probably spells out some secret message. haha

it's an interesting shift in track title naming. his take on a gear demo, live to 2 tracks? lol

imo the spaces used is the only part that makes the gear list interesting. it's funny to imagine him setting that stuff up in bed. and the names of the spaces let you imagine the feel of the room without seeing the gear, which is cool. when you're using your own gear you aren't checking it out. the lodge makes me think twin peaks. is the mod room where he tinkers with shit or where people go to use psychedelic drugs? it's better not knowing.

While not every professional musician out there has the same GAS as some of us amateurs, it's refreshing in a way to know that -- well -- a heck of a lot *do*. (Aphex Twin is by far not the only pro with insane gear lists.)

At least we're not guitarists, I guess. :deadbanana:

That's kind of obvious isn't it? The dots denote what track each item is used on.

glad to see it looks like they'll be some (prepared?) piano stuff again with the disklavier!

RMI harmonic synth! Glad I googled that, what a looker! Anyone actually ever seen one of these in person?

I've played one of them. It was cool looking and only slightly special.

Here's a nice spreadsheet someone put together.

Fascinating to read, this is one of the best parts of the new album.

I bet the Cirklon will now get to top of the list for a lot of people that didn't even know about it. Also what delights me most about this gear list is that musicians like Aphex Twin and Squarepusher have been known to push devices to their limits. Always striving to get more from what the machine is supposed to give. And seeing new devices on these artists lists, devices that were designed with a mind-frame to overcome said limitations, I'm happy and excited to see what new boundaries these artists might reach.

I owned one. I agree with Kent. Looks way cooler than it actually sounded. Don't get me wrong, it was special but I couldn't justify keeping it given my thoughts on the sound. It ended up in the hands of Billy Corgan who I think now owns one of everything and could probably rival the Aphex List.
