Audio interface output DC blocking caps

Audio interface output DC blocking caps

This question came up on the Volta forum in this thread:
and I thought you guys in DIY might know more about this.
We're talking about output DC blocking caps and how to alter audio interfaces so they will pass DC voltages out.

These caps would always have to be in series in order to block DC, yes-no?

If that's correct then they can simply be shorted across?

They would be smaller value caps and not electrolytics?

For balanced outs, wouldn't there be a separate cap for hot and cold?

Any other ideas you guys have along this line is appreciated
