I just made a template for TouchOSC (for the iPad)
You can download it and use or edit this template.

I have created templates for:

Next week i will create some more templates.

To use this template on your iPad, download the editor for mac or PC and open the template.
Then use the Sync button and open the App on the iPad and load the template form your computer.

This is amazing! Sorry for the dumb question - how do you sync it with the Disting Ex?

By default the Attenuverters are assigned to CCs 1-6 but disabled.

Ok - but are you physically connecting the ipad with the Disting Ex, via another Expert Sleepers module or something else?

You need a midi DIN connection to the EX.

You can do that using either the ExpertSleepers midi expander or just add a couple of DIN sockets to your case and link them to the ES midi header with jumper wires. You don’t need a power connection.

Then you need some way to convert the iPad midi output to 5 pin DIN. Loads of ways to do that.

You can use it with a old iPad (i use it with the Air 1) It's so nice to touch the Disting EX! In this way i have learned so much more about the EX algo's by building this template... Tip: The Dream machine is so deep! Love it

What you need is: Disting EX with the Midi headers connected, iPad camera connection kit, a simple USB to midi adapter and the Touch OSC app (App store) there is also a version in the Google store for Android.

How to get this template on the iPad?
To use this template on your iPad, download the editor for mac or PC (https://hexler.net/products/touchosc) and open the template.
Then use the Sync button. Open the App on the iPad and load the template form your computer. (same wifi connection)

And don't forget to set in the EX "CC127 in Algorithm select CC in the setup". When you press on a tab in the touchOSC app the algo will be selected on the Disting.

Do these have bi-directional communication? I mean, when you load a preset on the EX, or tweak a single parameter on the hardware, do the controls update in TouchOSC (assuming you have both MIDI In and Out connected, of course)?

They will if you have firmware v1.7 or above.

Caveat: when testing this I found some odd behaviour in TouchOSC, but as far as I can tell this is specific to TouchOSC. I've notified hexler.

Great @os. Will the template need to be updated to support bi-directional communication, or will it work out of the box?

Just out of interest, how does the template get updated when a preset is selected on the EX? Does the EX send the CC for each parameter in turn out of the MIDI out port, or does it send the whole state out in one go, somehow?

It should just work.

It sends each CC individually.

Hi! i have been using your template, great work.
How could i use the template with 2 distings that are midi chained? should i duplicate the tabs and assign the duplicated ones to channel two, and then set the second disting to receive data on channel 2?
I have the distings each connected to a midixo expander, first disting ser to midi tru, out of expander 1 into in of expander 2.
Midi messages are getting to the second disting fine but are affecting disting 1 too, so maybe that’s why i was suggesting changing the midi channel to 2 on the duplicated tabs and on the second disting.
