*VIDEO* Erica Fusion Series - VCO Mixer - TUUUUBES!

Post by ben_hex » Thu Jul 17, 2014 6:42 pm

I'm proud to present my latest overview video of the new Erica Synths Fusion Series. The first overview is the VCO Mixer full of lovely tube goodness (as are the other 4 modules in the range). Fire away with all comments/questions I'll try answer everything best I can and I'm sure Girts will answer anything from the Erica side of things. Cheers

Very interested in this, especially since ive been looking into a DPO. I bet this work work nicely in a feedback patch.

I also really appreciate the reserved but artistic panel graphics on this new line of modules.

So i guess the obvious questions would be price/ release date/ draw/ hp (sorry if this is mentioned in another thread I havent read all of the erica announcements recently). My main question though is if this is a limited release due to tube availability?

Hi there! Thank you for interest!
The price range of Erica Fusion modules will be 160 - 300EUR, depending on the module and tube used. The VCO Mixer is simple by schematics, but advanced from construction perspective and expensive parts used there, therefore it will slightly below 300EUR.
And I intend NOT to make this limited run - there still are tube producers. Only thing - not every tube works here, even by datasheet technically they are identical, therefore we test every single tube before using it for modules.
Release is scheduled for the first weeks of August

Yes, panels are mat black.

What sort of feedback path?

My favorite at the minute is AFG into both sides (so 3 ins on side A then side A output to side B plus one more in) from AFG then B output into filter and filter output back into the mixer. Mega fatness!

Fleggy you'll habe your hands on them at the synth meet.

matttech it's not passing cv. Although audio rate LFOs (shaped sine from uLFO) through it going to audio rate mod a filter is nice when you wiggle and square off the waves.

Bonefish67 cheers mate!

Yeah all of my feedback patches involve a filter somewhere and usually a wierd distortion like my noise swash to fatten it up and give more for the filter to work with. Besides that clock dividers/ multipliers also do well.

Great !
thanks

when you do a VCA demo,
i´d be much interested to see a demo of one input to VCO mix vs. same input to VCA ( open)
and have a comparsion of how the tube effects the wave.
same behave or not in regards to in-/ mixlevel ? sine is good and a more complex digital one ( E350 ), as donne here.

or then such level2tube demo for all modules as one demo.
would be much appreciated.

or hey, just check for yourself and tell your impression, ...no demo. should be sufficient ;)

Glad to see more tube offerings. These look interesting.

They may want to note for production that fusion has a single 's' in it, if it is supposed to be 'fusion'.

I can't wait to hear the VCA. :hyper:

cheers MindMachine this was noticed early on and corrected. You can see the final panel layout in the images with the rendered image of the module (each title screen and intro/outro) :tu:

Would this lend itself to being a kind of preamp and tuby amplify say an epiano or guitar input?

^ Thanks for reviving this. I've been looking for something to warm up a Yamaha YC Reface in stereo. This might be the best bet.

Hey Hththt I imagine there's a lot of gain to amplify other equipment but it works amazingly at euro levels.

My favourite sheer "mega gain" module is the Circuit Abbey Gozinta.
