How to synthesize this tone? [Small - Clark]

Post by p_boban » Tue Apr 06, 2021 2:22 pm

Hey, this might be a pretty easy one but would like some help with this. How would you go about synthesizing the sound that starts at 42s here:

Thanks in advanced!

Single sawtooth or fairly wide pulse wave through a LPF with zero resonance. Little or no modulation of the filter cutoff.

Just want to add: Some reverb will be needed. And it sounds to me, as if the wave is driven a bit, could be a saturator, drive or Filterfeedback(what Arturia calls brute factor).

Yea it’s a sawtooth but it’s mixed with some noise too. I’d also say the filter is being modulated by the note value. Higher notes are brighter. So put your pitch cv into a cv input of your filter and attenuate to taste

Take the attitude somewhere else. The guy is asking a legit question. We’ve all been there.

I remember around 1989 or so hearing a 909 kick drum on a record and asking what drum machine makes that sound. Everyone starts somewhere. So did you.

To the OP- what are you looking to recreate this with? That would also help to dial in a patch specific to the instrument.

Cheers!

My minds an art gallery.

Er, but it's a saw wave.
