This looks and sounds really cool. I want one. I saw Casper Electronics in Brooklyn this year and he put on a really good show.

I'm waiting for the kit too.
He sells some pre-assembled units now but the kit will be cheapper and fun to solder.

i must say i was pretty disappointed with the original dronelab. pretty limited, the filter was poor and the "tremelo" section wasn't great either.

hopefully this is a different kettle of fish! :bacon:

i've one and i can says the if i use it with euro or/and reverb the DL2 can be satisfactory, apart the nova-drone Casper is working on an mini-modular-noise-system

this look really interestant

1. QUAD VCO (wide range VCOs from LFO to audio)
2. VCO/VCA/VCF (single voice module)
3. S&H/RING/RUNGLE(modulation and complex sequencer)
4. TOUCH CONTROL,PROGRAMMER (touch controlled voltage and preset bank)

just got one in the mail. So far so good but haven't delved deeply enough into the breadboard section yet.

i've built one of these and it's all working fine apart from the leds, i've tried replacing them but still no good, anyone got an idea what the problem might be?

I built a double novadrone, was actually what got my feet wet in diy and down a modular rabbit hole :goo: I really enjoy it, the LEDs are cool, making your own circuits on the bending breadboard is a lot of fun. Pitch is easy to tune too! :guinness:

Owned a Novadrone and it was ok but limited so sold it on fairly quickly.

built a dronelab a year or two ago. I really didn't like the janky design of the PCB/fiberboard/faceplate. It sounds okay but seems like it needs to be fed into a distortion or fuzz of some type.
In the end I've ended up using an APC with a CV source or two more often because it just works.

Hey, remote chance but have any of you built or found a reasonable casing for the (dual) novadrone?

I should probably just set it up in plexiglass, but i haven’t yet gotten to that point.

Apologies for the necro-bump, but there aren’t many chats about these synths about :)

I went a bit overboard, but I built the Drone Lab first and then did the Dual Novadrone. Built a mixer and onboard echo. But it has been great for live performances...

If you want to put it in a case I suggest using taller potentiometers and switches, the switches and pots from the BOM are too low profile to make a case that'll cover without bumping on the caps and jacks..

What kind of echo did you build into the suitcase? I've heard good results with MFOS echoes.

I'll try to post a picture of my setup at some point. Power starvation is the way to go. Used Delptronics bender sequencers to really mangle the sound into very rhythmic drum patterns.

I used the Synthrotek Delay module, based on the 2399. Would love to see your setup!

Here is an old photo, but it includes a part of my setup. My first DIY build! So confusing to build that I ended up building two smaller electronic kits for friends just to understanding the soldering and parts sourcing.

Includes my diy Eurorack conversion board. They are based off of the design Casper briefly released for sale a few years ago.

I’m curious about that as well, I built a dual nova some time ago and it’d be cool to make it a supernova with CV. Oye that hurts!
