Everybody needs a HQ vintage sound ,modern Design Buchla 208 and ,learn its electronic,the 208X built Project kit.
The Story :we have started this project in March 2020,while the first covid 19 lockdown to spend time and as I’m a big fan of the Buchla 200 série modules,after 10 months of passionate work ,some of the 200X modules are alive.

The goal was to offer a diy version ,then everybody can build a vintage buchla 208 ,even a beginner.
The Boops Ed. team : FredCab E.E pcb designer,Peloch electronic guru and me a electronician tech /pro musician ,will support you along this project.

All the pcbs have been designed with the originals schematics,and the 99 ,9 % of the original layout .
a ground plane,and parts numbers written on them,the built is fast and easy.
No short in my prototype built;),thanks to the coated factory layer,called “silkscreen and solder top mask “the first 4 logic cards are now really electronically steady .With the uA726,the tracking is fine.Calibrations accurates,easy and fast, the sound is always fat,with shiny highs and of course the vintages analogs vibes.
the 208 X can be built as a vintage buchla 208 ,same Bom same panel as the original (a few parts have been added for the X version Mods,upgrade,new functions)
it has 9 functions that can be built if desired .
-seq 2 step
-seq reset via cv or a momentary switch
-Env loop retrigged
-Mo hi range
-WF X a second preset ,for the timbre,for more metallic ,agressive sound
-a new card 12 ,new reverb driver,a new phone amp(works with a 8 Ohms speaker too).A new audio routine is possible to separate the MO and the CO
-reverb level mix control cv input
-fx pre/post mono send /stereo return
-white and pink noises
Upgrades on the 208X pcbs

Some parts like film,tantale capacitors have many layout options to match your local store parts.

Card 1:coupling capacitors added ,step 2 with switch on the paneladded,seq reset circuit
By CV and /or a momentary switch.
Card3 and Card 4 bleed resistor added.
Card 5 AM progressive index up to 100% .
Card 6 hi range audio with switch on the panel,calibration by multi turn for 2 octaves J112 transistor layout added for the analog switch.
Card 7 Wfx 2 presets for the timbre,with switch added on the panel,J112 layout added for the analog switch.
Card 9 with the rare and expensive DTL mc846 ,its now possible to swap them by the standard 74LS03,the mod has been added .
A new card 12,HQ driver reverb,phone /speaker amplifier,MO-CO custom audio routine possible .Pre reverb audio out available.

A HQ psu 208Xmicro PCB :400mA for each -15V+15V ,rail,1,2A for the 5V and the external 12v (brick)is filtered by inductance pcb with isolated rails voltages,it can be installed under the seq space for a standalone standard 78 mm high,4u boat 208 solution(or the easel solution 218/208)
A mono send with a gain control pot,pre (pre reverb )/or post Master volume ,stereo returns with a gain stéréo control pot .
One switch pre reverb/Main level and post is implanted ,handy;)
2 fines levels noise sources on tiny jacks x2 ,white /pink from Electricdruid .

Some rares expensives parts like the DTL have been swapped by cheaper Circuit
Here the mc846 by 74ls03 ,thanks to Dave Brown ,Don (https://modularsynthesis.com/roman/buchla.htm )
the rare and expensive Jfet transistor 2N4341 in card 6 /card 7 is a simple switch,can be replaced by a j112 ,cheaper.No change in the sound .
We have done research with Some parts like the molex KK ,24/12/6 pins are available and more handy to install correctly.
CHEAPER, we can make group buy orders for the sliders ,vactrols by example .
Why for beginners ,all the pcbs have all the informations needed to avoid errors.
All the mods ,upgrades have been collected since 7 years now,all have been corrected ,no errors traces .
For this first run of 20 units 2x ua726 originals /rare parts kits are included in the bundle kit.
A 4U powered custom boat is available ,with fx insert mono in,stereo return, 1/4 mono jacks ,noise white and pink on separate tiny jacks.+ A 12V lamp bnc plug.
Price is 690 eu for the 208X BLACK pcbs bundle ,limited 20 kits .Travel bag not included.
