you need a preamp for weak signals, such as guitar or microphone.

got the first one that came into schneiders.. wasnt going to get it but after messing with the quad resonator through the echophon and sidechained a 909 kick to it, i was sold.

this thing is ridiculous. must have. (and i was on the skeptic side all "why does my modular need a compressor?"

The technical description for the DP-2 is in making right now. Meanwhile, please drop an email with your questions regarding the functionality.

i dont know off hand, it was around 800 euros, maybe less... typically cwejman pricing/build quality/sound, well worth it IMHO

Awesome.

I have VC-FC ( which sounds great with BLD kicks) and was planning to get one more for stereo, but now i might sell it and get this one as it looks much more versatile.

Wowa: Can I ask if that would be a good decision , or there are thing in the VC-FC that this module can't do?

I haven't explore my VC-FC that much yet.

I would like to write a short technical description for the DP-2.

It consist of two main functional blocks, compressor and Mute.

COMPRESSOR
"One knob" action so the higher compression the higher internal make up gain for compensating the gain loss. Attack and Release is an advanced envelope follower in two separate stages and control the compression. The Side Chain is a build in 2 pole low pass and high pass filter with a switch; LP, OFF, HP. The frequency cutoff determinate the content of audio signal controlling the envelope follower, a standard side chain style. You can use an external signal (input RETURN) in switch HPF/LPF in the middle position or in series with build in side chain filter (HPF, LPF).

MUTE
Mute is controlled by an incoming signal and control the attenuation for the compressed/uncompressed signal by Attack-Release (follow the length of the gate signal) /Attack-Decay (activated by a short internal pulse derived from the gate signal) transient generator. The threshold for activating the TG (transient generator) is set by THRESHOLD control and the depth for the muted signal by DEPTH. The GATE switch select the length for the gate signal; S, short, L, long, M, middle. It's very useful for different audio material. Long is good with the side chain filter in pos. LPF. LED above the GATE output indicates the activity (if totally off then no muting action). Build in side chain filter for the MUTE section is identical and as above. The external GATE can activate the TG from an external signal (any waveform and bigger than 2 Volts). All CV controls are the lowest row. Both compressor and Mute is accomplished by a single high-end VCA so the overall signal quality (noise and distortion) is very good.
I hope my description clarifies the functionality for the DP-2.
You can create new rhythm patterns but be sure the setting for ALL controls. Don't crank them up without knowing the function/effect. I saw some short tube vid on Muffwiggler and I understood he couldn't get it. Anyways, you can always come back with your technical questions. This module is very different from all my others and it's not a conventional synth module either.

BYPASS, a hardwired bypass directly from the audio input to the audio output.

Is the compressor section on this module similar (in sound and functions) to the VC-FC?

I see Attack wider in the VC-FC. But Release wider in the DP-2. Ratio in DP-2 goes to Infinite and it also has a HPF and LPF with Frequency and Level cutoff controls.
What i don't understand also is if it's got similar Side Chain inputs to insert external devices filters eq's etc?

And when are the y going to be available at Big City Music (US)?

Thanks :tu:

the side chain is similar but the DP-2 has the filter onboard. I explained it in details how it works. BCM ordered DP-2 and I'll ship modules asap they're ready. Between 3-5 weeks.

Is there any word on production of these? Has anyone on the waiting list received theirs?

By the way, if Wowa is listening :hail: people seem to really need a manual. And another one for the QMMF-4!
