Steady State Fate Autodub

Post by Matt_L » Tue May 04, 2021 11:57 am

From a Facebook post by SSF:

Image
Discrete Stereo VCA with interactive dub style stereo send/return.
Big button can behave as toggle or momentary.
DC coupled inputs work with audio and CV sources.
Gate out when big button is active - trigger envelopes and other events - patch them back to the CV input to automate your dub effects or fade in/out your signal.
Extra functioning offers 2x gain on send and return for utility or overdriving external modules.
more info coming soon!
Also from SSF:
gate high when button is pressed. either momentary or toggle (latching)
Looks like a great idea and great execution to me.

I hope it has jumpers for moving the wet VCAs between post-return or pre-send (e.g. for preserving delay trails). Looks very cool, though.

So is the CV for control over dry/wet or send level?

I'm assuming since "dub" is in the name, the idea is to momentarily let the signal through to hit a delay, then let the trails continue.

So my guess is, the CV opens a pre-send VCA (and the button opens it 100%). The dry/wet knob is probably a post-return mix, which might or might not go to 100% wet.

Can you explain me how this would be used? Is it like a single channel of a stereo mixer with CV gain and send/return?

Yeah I think you’re right. So signal path is something like: stereo in gets multed, copy 1 goes to the output (cross faded with return), copy 2 goes to send out (under CV control). So the output is a mix of the input and the return, under manual dry/wet control only.

Yeh i hope this preserves trails! Would be great to have a stereo blend send-return module that preserves trails!

Trails is the point of dub so you’ll be happy.

This will be fun with Vortices.

This would be amazing with the Xaoc Sarawejo, with the delay taps panned in a stereo mixer, in the send/return.

I have one and it's glorious. I'll try to make a video sometime soon.

PS - it does preserve trails (VCA is on the send). I was really insistent about this during testing, and Andrew graciously listened to my pestering.

No. The Boys Noize/Baseck Module is the Triptych.

So, am I right in thinking that this is a send/return module with a VCA and a button for engaging send?

So a momentary or latched FX module to to use on Vortices where it didn't have an aux channel?

I do like the idea of a deconstructed mixer (I own Vortices) with flexible aux addon modules.
