Problems syncing Marbles with Tete

Post by LunaticSound » Sun Apr 18, 2021 2:15 pm

Hmm, I am getting these weird occasional hiccups of Marbles' tempo, when syncing it from Intellijel Tete.

It sounds, as if Marbles switches to an extremely fast tempo for a moment and then jumps back to the intended Tempo.

Since I havent had these glitches before using Tete and right now Marbles is running fine with Fourmulator as clock source, it seems like it is either a fault on Tetes side or a problem in the communication between the two.

Since these are fairly common modules, has someone else experienced this? Do you have any idea, why this happens? Do you think I should write to Emilie?

Thankful for any input.

When listening to Tetes outout directly, it doesnt seem to change the clock being output, so it is something about the clock not being recognized properly by Marbles.

Maybe the 5V is not enough SN ratio for Marbles?

Further experiments leave me even more clueless:

Using Tete to trigger a MN Function and using its output to sync Marbles instead still produces these glitches. Weird. So it's not the 5volts to blame... maybe Tete is sometimes erroneously sending short double triggers? I can't hear anything like that, when listening to the triggers, though.

How good is your power supply?

If it is noisy or has an issue it could be causing false triggers. Unlikely but possible.
New track, mostly modular...

Tete also double triggers maths envelopes, maybe try to attenuate tete‘s clock/trigger a little because it’s coming in too hot?

It´s the Mantis power supply from TipTop, so not shit not great, I´d say. I haven´t experienced similar effects with any other clocks though.

Thanks for trying to help, I just now saw, that someone answered here.

Do you mean, you have also experienced Tete double triggering Maths? Or do you infer that from what I describe?

Try patching through a (non Intellijel?) buff mult or a passive mult with multiple modules taking clock. Intellijel seems to have a pattern where their modules can cause some modules to trigger on rising and falling edge of a pulse.

Yes, my Tete double triggers Maths and if I attenuate it a little bit I get single triggers.

I'd say it leans more towards the great than the shit - it's the studio bus design iirc not the uuZeus - and in my experience is quiet up to video rates (MHz)

Utility modules are the inexpensive, dull polish that makes the expensive, shiny modules actually shine!!!

an oscillator is an oscillator - utilities are possibilities

choose the case to fit the modules - not the modules to fit the case!!!

Oh, ok! Damn... That makes me think, it´s just the pretty pronounced noisiness of Tete.
