What do you mean ? You can reset patterns on the Volcas.

Anyway, trigger outs are just what I'd be looking for on mine but this looks pretty cool :nana: .
Was referring to reset on transport start, so when I hit play on external sync source, the volca starts from step 1 (unless I've missed something? I've not found a way to do that yet...)
I have the Volca Bass, and I can indeed get it to reset, but:

1. Don't use it as the master. It always outputs the clock signal, whether play is pressed or not. I don't know if they fixed this on the Sample.

2. Reset your main clock source. Then press play on the Volca. It should sync, and the sequencer won't start until you start your main sequencer. It'll start from the top of the pattern. {I would imagine this works the same way on the Beats, if it doesn't, oh well}

3. Don't change patterns on the Volca while the sequencer is running, because it'll start from the nearest 1/8th (or maybe 1/16th?) beat, and it's too hard to be that precise to push the buttons at the right time. I know, kind of sucks.

Maybe they can fix this in a firmware update?

I would be interested in the eurorack mod for my beats if you ever got around to it. A beats can be picked up secondhand these days for around $100. I think there is no cheaper way to get drums in your case!

Would love this mod as well for my beats.

I may end up buying a mount kit I saw offered somewhere, now the name escapes me, but at least that will get the volca in my rack... Not that I have the room for it anyway.

It would be nice to be able to power it off the modulate supply though
I haven't read enough of this thread to see if that's been discussed

Volca beats was great fun to play with, loved the controls - but I found it noisy as hell and ended up sending it back.

Kind of miss it though.

yes it is. i put a hush noisereduction behind it so at least it's quiet between the sounds. anybody know any mods to get rid of some of that noise? it's pretty nasty/digital sounding too
clocking with analog is strange as outgoing it's a pulse only every second step and incoming it plays two steps on one pulse
still, it is a fun box, keeping mine 8-)
don't need midi, don't need keys, just want knobs and cables (all together now ;-)

Pulp, did you ever find where to output triggers per voice?

Announcement

Post by Metatronic Mods »

Sorry to revive an old thread, but since PLogic declared his project officially dead, I figured I would announce to those who expressed interest here that I've been working on a similar project and should have them available by this Fall. You can sign up for my mailing list to get an email when they become available here: http://www.metatronicmods.com/beatsmod.html

Mine will include per channel audio, a hardware mixer, trig outs, trigger ins and CV ins with attenuverters, in eurorack format. I just now finished prototyping/testing the per channel trigger I/O -Success!!
I expect the cost for a complete module to be somewhere around $600-$700, (~$100 less if you provide your own volca beats).

Now to update the PCB I've been working on...

Glad to see this!

Feel free, if you have desire, to use my snare mod, even if just a switch option or in any way.. I'll PM you for being on the mailing list.

Another question if you have time to clarify, what to send to the differential amplifier. You have marked in the photo kick diff and there are two points, do you take from just one of those points to send to the amplifier, or do you send both or one to ground?

Also, I noticed there is another spot where you have "k diff" is that just another point you can pull from of would you need to send that to the differential amp too?

Cheers!

So if I understand correctly, I should run a wire from each of those little holes that you marked to my own LM324? For each sound I run one wire to the inverting input and on to the non-inverting input of the opamp?

Is there no way to get the sound out without adding my own opamp?
You need to wire the Op-Amp as a differential amplifier. Look at figure 4 here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Differential_amplifier

Yes, you can get the signal out without the amplifier. Take one of the outputs and run it through a capacitor to strip off the dc. As long as you feed it into a high input impedance you should be fine. The signal level might be a little low for Eurorack, but you should be able to go right into a mixer.

Where are the trigger outs per voice? What chip? Is there a schematic so I can figure it out? What # ic on the board should I look for?

ANY info on trigger out would be helpful
