Re: Ever sell a synth and instantly regret it?

I think the only one I ever truly regretted was a 4xxx serial number Model D. Lovely instrument. It was worth the hype and more. If I ever come across another one I'll buy it and hold onto it for the remainder of my days.

Mind you I got an SEM and cash in the trade, so it wasn't all bad news.

Re: Focusrite aquires Sequential

Where are you seeing only 300k for Sequential?

The figure I saw was $20 million plus another $4 million based on performance targets. That strikes me as far more plausible.

Re: any cool solid state guitar amps?

It's a brand new amp and I've not played it, but the new Quilter Superblock series look and sound amazing at a ridiculously cheap price.

Re: Focusrite aquires Sequential

I guess Dave's retiring and wants his nest egg ... or he's behind in his tax payments :hihi: I wonder what the implications are, if any? What of Dave's tech might we see in Focusrite products? Focusrite also owns Novation, so the answer is probably minimal. Focusrite seems to stay in their lane whe...

Re: Reverb data leak

Yet another reason I'm not thrilled to have my bank account information in their hands. It was annoying enough having to wait for them to disburse payments after over five years and 100% seller rating. I asked about reverting back to processing payments through PayPal again and they simply don't al...

Re: Good and Bad of Modular Manufacturers

I've only had one negative experience with a retailer and it was a decade ago (they sold a piece of vintage gear and didn't bother telling me the sliders on the front panel were stickier than molasses and the scaling was off by more than a semitone per octave), so I'm not going to bother naming them...

Re: Guitar pedals vs Plugins

When I first got back into guitar about 7 or 8 years ago I fooled myself into thinking I could make do with just plugging my guitar into an interface and layering on the effects in a DAW. And it works, but it didn't inspire me much. For some reason I find a $140 Zoom Multi-FX pedal which only allows...

No need to apologize! It's all just fodder for me to chew on.

I'm definitely leaning to a SuperSonic having ferreted out some more samples.

Mesa Boogie California Tweed is 6V6's, the Fillmore is 6L6's. Highly recommend.
I'd looked that one up and it does sound nice, but it's really outside my comfort zone for spending since it comes in at just pennies under $1,700 USD.

Maybe if I can find one gently used.

Non EL-series tube amp recommendations

Against my better judgement (because I already have more amps than brains) I'm looking for a non-EL34 or EL84 tube amp, and hopefully those here can make some recommendations that haven't already yet appeared on my radar. I've nothing against either of the aforementioned bottles. I've owned several ...

Does anyone have this that had a Wavestation before? I loved the Wavestation sound and the Wavestate seems to sound even better, but I was so frustrated with the Wavestation programming in every sense that I sold it and promised myself never again. As I'm reading the negatives with programming this...

Re: Ahhh... P Bass or J Bass.

I have both a Squier and a Fender Jazz and I can't see wanting anything else in the four string format, but that's just me.

Clearly there's nothing wrong with a Precision as evidenced by their ubiquity, but the Jazz neck and sound has always worked well for my hands and ears.

No one is remembering that their 2600 "clone" is basically a neutron with different filters*? They don't make clones, they make neutrons with different panels.

Re: any cool solid state guitar amps?

**Rolls up sleeves** I'm a huge fan of the Boss Nextone series. Just an all-round, good sounding amp, tastefully done, with everything you need in terms of EQ and FX send/return. The tube emulations are horseshit, so just stick the four way switch on any one of the four settings and forget about it;...

Re: AJH Synth - the world needs to know

Buying a set of the original AJH modules a couple of years back cured my GAS for the reissue Model D (and, let's be honest, they do a lot more at a less expensive price point once things like hard sync and PWM are taken into account).

Moog Audio Toronto is sadly no more. It always had a bit of a precarious location and the current situation was probably the final nail in the coffin. Montreal is still open though.

The problem with comparing the WS and Hydra (I've owned both) is that there's no effective way of providing the depth of sequencing options in the WS without resorting to menu diving. It would be nicer to have the multiple screens the Hydra features, but even if it had as many there would still be t...

Re: Rotary Pedals

I've craved a proper rotary speaker for donkey's years, but even the cheapest new Leslie-style speakers seem to come in somewhere north of $1300. If only there was a fellow, perhaps a slightly controversial Swiss one, who could take a crack at the issue and come up with a $500 solution.

Sorted. Hardly. Even a pet monkey to flip and tally will be larger than an actual circuit as requested. Hard to fit in a module and needing upkeep besides! I don't see how the pennies -even if conduxctive copper- can be shoved into the preloads pins of a counter. Not to mention doing all this at ev...
