Re: Suggestions for Nonlinearcircuits combo

I really, really love the Hypster. Compared to the other modules it seems to do more of a "lock into a roughly repeating pattern for a while, go bonkers, settle down into a different repeating pattern thing" that's nice. It compliments the Triple Sloths quite well: the two together have "chaos" pret...

Re: Announcing XVI, Eurorack 16 channel fader bank

Did you get the led or non-led version? How is fader feel? I got the red/blue LED version: it took maybe a minute total to "flip" every other LED to the opposite color. Faders are nice and tight (they shouldn't move much/at all if you accidentally bump/brush them) but I can still move 'em up and do...

Re: Announcing XVI, Eurorack 16 channel fader bank

My desktop version of this just showed up, and it's super-nice. Being able to just flick a switch to go from 0-5V to 0-10V to -5 to 5V individually for each channel is so, so great. Being able to use MIDI and CV at the same time is great too (for when i'm doing some Ableton + Modular stuff it'll be ...

Re: Synth Tech e520 Hyperion Stereo Audio Processor

... is it wrong that I -love- the voder on this thing? It's so dumb, but the exactly *right* sort of dumb. It's also funny, before I got it I was way looking forward to the various delays, but I've ended up spending far more time with the Spectral effects overall. They're not as immediately obvious ...

ah ok! thanks,How can I create an aggregate device?
I want to run it with my RME UCX together
if you're trying to aggregate across multiple USB sound devices in Windows, you're going to need to use ASIO, and find the ASIO drivers for the various devices. ASIO is... it is what it is.

Re: Recommend me a good old school phaser pedal

I’ve been looking for a phaser myself. A general purpose phaser (synth, guitar, etc). Unsure of whether or not I should get a dual phaser or a couple different ones to run in serial or parallel. Check out the OBNE Visitor. You get a main layer of Phaser, Chorus, or Tremolo, then a secondary layer o...

Is that a Rucci drone in the lower left? If so, how do you like it? Yup. I like it a lot, especially at the price, albeit it took a while to get my head around the cv-sag input to modify pitch and still don't use that much. I also generally keep the built-in filter fully CCW the entire time: it get...

So with the arrival of the massive Hyperion, the Javelin, and the two little 1U LPGs... I think i'm done for -quite- a while. I've got more than enough to keep exploring, and there's some modules (Maze, Bionic Lester 3, ENOSC, Cloudbusting, Hedra) that I *know* i'm only really scratching the surface...

Re: NLS Chaos recommendation

I've got a Triple Sloths and a Hypster and feel they compliment each other very well. Hypster can go crazy fast as well as slow, and can either get totally bonkers, or does a really nice job of settling into stable "orbits" that are occasionally shattered into new configurations.

Re: WMD Javelin - new Envelope generator/amplitude modulator

So after a bit of a delivery snafu, I finally got mine in. And this thing is *nice*. I was in the market for a ADSR w/ integrated VCA anyways, so this was already in my wheelhouse. But the Accent thing is *brilliant*. It's such a neat way to add some dynamics to a line. Combining a slow rhythmic mod...

Re: Ensemble Oscillator from Matthias Puech & 4ms Company

To reiterate - it's fairly clear that EnOsc is good for animated pads and chordal, organ-like drones, etc. ... How does it sound in a staccato/percussive, enveloped, or low pass gated way? Do the Scale banks (10) act as fixed chords which can be cycled through using the CV input on the bottom of th...

Re: Friendly Rant on Lack of Vertical Case Designs

There's also the issue where a bunch of less-wide rows means it's going to be harder to fill them perfectly and you're going to be more likely to end up with unusable HP. I.e. 2 104hp rows vs 4 52 rows: the 4 row solution has more "hard borders" that divide up the HP.

Re: Envelopes vs. matrices - what would YOU do with your last 20HP?

It's 22hp, but Zadar (w/o expander) + Maze gives you a *bonkers* amount of utility for the space they take up. Zadar is so incredibly useful, not just for volume envelopes but also for funky modulation of just about anything (so...many...shapes...). And Maze has a bit of a learning curve (and the ve...

Re: Magneto vs Lúbadh vs ?? for sound-on-sound looping?

unfortunately it's another pedal, but have you checked out the Blooper? It's a looper where you can "bake in" the onboard effects with each overdub, from filters, to pitch/time shifts, to stability, jumble & dropouts, etc. So if you leave the effects on, with each pass the loop will get more and mor...

For me it's the sub-sequencers in the Vector. When I was cross-shopping various sequencers I didn't pay that much attention to them and was more drawn by Vectors variable step lengths, part lengths, and chance ops. But about 3 months in I started exploring them and suddenly it -clicked-. It makes th...

... that when faffing around making drones for future pad use, an E370 + an Enosc can sort of give you the equivalent of *48* oscillators in one system (You can't address them all *individually* for modulation of course, but I still ended up mostly tapping out a Hypster a Triple Sloths & a Batumi be...

I think a Hypster makes a perfect compliment to the Triple Sloth, I think I use the Hypster in almost every patch I make. Let's Splosh and Numberwang are both a bit more 'specific', but when you need or want what they do they're fantastic.

So are you basically using Maths all the time as an envelope generator (or also you also press-ganging PNW into envelope duties as well)? Given you've got the Hertz and the Chord, it seems like something that gives you a bit more envelope control (and more envelopes period) might be useful; it'd als...

Re: Akai S950 Sampler Sound - ALM MUM M8 and samplerate-reduction?

If you've got a modular-to-pedal interface, also checkout the Ottobit Jr pedal from Meris. Doesn't do timestretching or repitching, but if you're looking for bitcrushing & sample rate reduction, it's fantastic. It also has a decent filter and a fun "glitch" parameter, along with a funky up-to-6-step...
