Re: Your glorious and shameful packaging arrivals.

I ordered a brand new Reface CS at a big online music gear store. It came like this:

Re: Roland TR-06, TR-6s, TR-606 (cloud)

I just got a TR-06 and have to agree, it's a great little box with a lot of very useful improvements over the original. However, there are also some annoying downsides I noticed: - Tiny volume pot shaft knob on the back of the unit, while the original 606 had a big nice knob on the front panel. - Th...

Re: Emblematic Systems - Catalyst - macro controller

I'm unsure which version I should buy. As I understand, the flows fader has a much longer life cycle and probably a smoother feel due to the contactless technology. But it also has less travel and a lot less resolution than the old one. Is the lower resolution even noticeable? I guess not. How does ...

Re: Is Make Noise B&G Shared System a good choice in 2017 ?

Any other suggestions besides adding BIA? Add a Make Noise Dynamix for side chaining. It has the dynamics inputs with built in envelope followers where you can patch in audio signals. With the appendant polarizer, you can choose if the VCAed signal should go louder or quieter and by how much. I'm n...

You could do something similar with the ALM O/A/x2, actually it would probably be better to use that since I don't think it amplifies signals.
It amplifies signals a little bit, I never measured by how much tough.

A group shipment to switzerland would be interesting to keep ship & import low.
I REALLY hate to get moules shipped just one alone. I quasi never do it.
That would be great! I'm not quite sure yet if I really will buy one, but if I do, I'm definitely in for a group buy.

Aaaahhh finally. The release of the Gamma Wave Source MKII :hihi: That would actually be amazing. The first gamma wave source is so underrated. It's the best glitch oscillator I've ever used. Yes I really hope that one day they will work on a new version again, taking the concept one (or many) step...

Re: Is is hazardous to your skin to install modules?

I recognized the danger of modular at the beginning of my journey. I’ve lost several electricians and personal assistants to various eurorack tragedies. And also a few to bizarre gardening accidents. Speaking of which, are there any modules yet that can be turned up to 11? https://www.modulargrid.n...

Re: Vents installation Doepfer lc case

Just make sure to drill the holes at the right spots.
If you use your Doepfer case vertically, the ventilation holes should be in the bottom plate and the top plate of the case. Also there must be a gap between the case and the table/surface in order to let the air in.

That 12HP mockup looks great indeed :guinness: Always wanted a sport mod, so happy a successor is coming along. While we're on the topic of ergonomics I'd like to suggest a layout where all jacks are on the bottom (or top) of the module and all knobs and mini pots opposite. The grid of jacks at the ...

Re: To 1u or not to 1u...

If intelijel had regular attenuators I would be for that. On Intellijels Quadratt and Triplatt modules you can choose, for each channel individually, if it should act as polarizer or attenuator with the corresponding switch. I really wonder why they abandoned the three-way switches of their old Tri...

Maybe a Yamaha Reface CS? Small and very simple but still a versatile sound palette.
I think it sounds great and is a joy to play with the immediate controls.

Re: VCAs with Character

Any low pass gate really.
There are some without the vactrol decay like Make Noise Dynamix, where you have a bit of low pass filtering as it closes but it reacts to cv as fast as a standard VCA.

Re: Mutable Instruments Only System - Possible ?

I feel like I'm the only person to every recommend Branches :waah: The thing with branches is that it just works with gates and not with audio and CV as far as I know. Of course you can just use VCAs and open them with the gates from Branches, but it would still be awesome if you could directly rou...

Re: how do *you* sequence your acid bass lines

I would say the Super Sixteen sequencer from Extralife instruments is pretty good for 303 style sequencing. I don't know exactly what the accent really does on a 303, but I guess you can use the CV output of the Super Sixteen to emulate it.

- Don't get the Rainmaker, yet. I'ts too damn big for your case and the Mimeophon is enough delay for now, I would say. You will probably buy a bigger case (or a second one) sooner or later, then you can consider the Rainmaker again. - I think you can get away with your quad VCA for now, but if you ...

Re: side chain ducking/compression

Dynamix from Make Noise is a dual low pass gate/ three channel mixer with built in envelope followers and polarizers in 10HP.
The low pass gate part refers only to the low pass filtering when closing the VCAs, it doesn't have a decay stage like all the vactrol low pass gates.
