Re: Choosing a sampler combo for ambient, outboard, synths.

The Octatrack is kind of whack for magical, haptic sounddesign. It's great for sequencing glitchy stuff but for sounddesign i found it very lacking. Personally I would recommend an EPS 16+ or ASR 10 for MAKING sounds. It has been discussed and tried to demystify several times, but what you put in t...

Choosing a sampler combo for ambient, outboard, synths.

So. I have come to the conclusion that it will either be Octatrack MK2 + Digitone (mentioning that because it has Elektron sequencer) + Model:Samples or SP-555 (which I can get for like 150 bucks including cards, PSU, etc... nice condition) + Digitakt + Model:Samples combo. Now the thing is. All the...

Re: How hard are you pushing your Make Noise 7U Performance Case

How did you install the Konstant Lab boards in your Make Noise case(s)? Got the 12u Konstant Lab BoardPwr kit from Synthracks, which includes everything you need to set it all up. I removed the Make Noise power board and its switch from the case, made the hole larger with a drill (mine is the older...

Re: What new booty did you buy?

Digitone, model:samples, Roland cables (gold series) as I am replacing everything with those. They are just really good. Some modules. Don’t even remember which, lol. Some pedals I believe? Digitone overshadows it all. 10/10 box.

Re: Digitakt or TR-6S

The Digitakt is excellent, but as others pointed out the lack of song mode is a big deal to some people (me included). The Elektron Model Samples is another option, very easy to use and fun, but it can do more than it may seem at first glance. I'd get that over the TR-6S. And they have a deal going...

Re: Dumb man's compressor

I would take a look at the black lion audio seventeen. I had the WA-76 but I like the sound of the black lion better, and the additional features are great. It is kind of like a poor mans distressor and only $100 more than the WA-76. How would you describe them sound wise? I had a new WA-76 for a d...

Re: Processing Digitone through Euro.

I happen to have both a Digitone and a modular case with input and a filter, so I tried this out. I definitely can hear the filter changing the timbre of various preset patches, but I also noticed (and confirmed visually with the spectrograph on a Mordax DATA) that the "init patch" of the Digitone ...

Processing Digitone through Euro.

Hey. Is there something at play that I am not aware of? I sent my Digitone (L mono out) through a chain into euro (ears) and was curious to try filtering it but the filters do not really affect the source sound? How come?

there must more to choose from and with more than 2A +12v. I would go for the HammerPWR instead of the BoardPWR. The price difference is 85€ with EU VAT but I think it's worth it. BoardPWR: +12V / 2A -12V / 1.2A +5V / 1.5A https://www.konstantlab.audio/shop/boardpwr-small-no-hp-power-supply/ Hammer...

Love my Mopho X4. One of the first modern analog poly synths I have bought. With the VST programmer, it is so easy to use. :-). Quirky character to it too.

Re: Roland D-50 and Roland D-10 patch compatibility.

They are completely different synths. No patch compatibility and very dissimilar in sound. I see. I will have to create my own patches then again. The sound is very different that's for sure. I don't get it though. The synthesis engine relies on the same tone/partial combo set and there are only so...

Re: Roland D-50 and Roland D-10 patch compatibility.

I have owned both D10 and D-110 in the past. The one advantage of the D-110 is outputs for each voice. Other than that, I wouldn't recommend either for exotic sound creation, they just aren't capable of it. You'd be better off with a DX7 if you want to get into 80s sound design ( and terrible UI de...

Re: Roland D-50 and Roland D-10 patch compatibility.

No - the D-10/D-110 is a cut-down LA synth. Structurally it's much closer to the MT-32 than the D-50; on the plus side, this means it's multitimbral, but it doesn't have nearly the amount of modulation options and effects that the D-50 does. Hey. Hm. Good point. They don't sound the same that's for...

Re: Beads vs erbe verb

I have an Erbe Verb and it's amazing. It's definitely got it's own thing going on, but until you have it and it's in your setup you'll never really know how it's gonna sound for you. I'd just choose one, go for it and stop worrying, you'll have fun whichever way you fall. (I wouldn't swap the erbe ...
