Re: Reverse Engineering Yamaha´s IG00156

I’m working on fixing up a CS-30. One of the issues I’m having at the moment is that VCF2 is all out of whack. Poking around with an oscilloscope, I see that audio is coming out of the HP and BP pins, but LP seems to output very little. I’ve already recapped the filter board as well as most of the r...

Re: Any Yamaha CS owners/techs out there? ENV 3 not working

I think I found a set of screw extractors that just might do the trick the remove the bracket over the envelope section of the sequencer PCB. I need the tiniest one ever to remove a screw about the size of an eyeglass screw. I’m going to use this thread a bit as a blog. Sorry for that, but I think I...

The few cases of regret or nostalgia I've had took months or years to settle in.
Yeah, for me it was a Yamaha MT8X 8-track. I sold it cheap too! :bang:
Funny, I just bought one of these. Great machine!

Any Yamaha CS owners/techs out there? ENV 3 not working

I just picked up a Yamaha CS-30 from overseas. After going over all of it’s features, I found a couple issues. First is that it needs to be recapped. No surprise there for a synth that seems to have been largely untouched internally since it left Yamaha in 1984. I’ve also found ENV 3 to be non-funct...

Well that makes things easier to integrate with LZX stuff. I may be in the market for one of these. Thanks for the heads up!

Re: Non-glitchy analog video mixer?

I’m not aware of any that are diy. You would need some sort of timebase correction in there, so that complicates things. An Edirol is probably your best bet, but depending on your needs, maybe a Videonics or Panasonic video mixer could cut it as well.

Re: Non-glitchy analog video mixer?

Does it have to be analog? There are plenty of digital mixers that could do this.

Fantastic choice of the WMD Performance mixer. I have one, it’s fucking dope!

Since you say you don’t have many of the sequencers in that rack yet, check out Nerdseq. I’m not sure there’s anything that can’t be done with it.

I rearrange my rack every few weeks it seems. I find the new arrangements inspiring. I arrange my modules by voice to try to keep the cable spaghetti to a minimum.

Synthrotek sells cheap blank panels. I buy piles of them to use as blanks and also for DIYing passive utilities and things.

Makes sense, I'm stupid, thanks. Then I'll make real crossfades with my two Radio Musics and VCAs haha.

That doesn't solve my glitching issue though.
For the glitching, try a different sd card. That fixed it for two of my radio musics.

I have not, but came in here looking for an answer to this very question. I'd like to pick up a launchpad for my nerdseq, and the new one looks pretty cool.

Actually, somebody on the LZX forums had mentioned that the Panasonic AVE-5 works with 240p sources. I just tried my AVE-3, and that works flawlessly. You can find them pretty cheap on ebay. The cool thing about the AVE-3, 5, and 7 is that they're really easily circuit-bendable.

Unfortunately not really. I have an Edirol V-8 which kind of works, but after a while looses sync. In my case, i'm trying to get 240p signals to work with LZX modules. Thier TBC2 module is supposed to be the magic bullet for this problem, but hasn't neen released yet. That said, look for a timebase ...

That's because they output a 240p video signal. It's not too weak, it's kind of a hack that early game systems commonly used. You may be able to use an upscaler of some sort.

I'm currently dealing with the same issue with a B&W Video Scope, nes clone, and Ming Mecca.

Yeah, it was just a generic review. I haven't seen any reviews regarding what lasers would be best with the cyclops. However, his video definately raised concerns in my mind about the accuracy of the lower end lasers. But, I think if you're just visualizing waveforms, and don't need tight corners, t...

I don't know much about these lasers, but Techmoan did a review on some lower end color lasers, and to me, they seemed like they would not work well with a Cyclops. The laser he reviewed rounded off coreners pretty badly to the point where the images looked pretty aweful. It seemed to me at least th...
