Re: Stereo distortion 2021

There aren't too many of them floating around, but the Sonocurrent M T2D Dual Triode Distortion is like a more robust, controllable version of the NuTone.

Will the new Angle Grinders with these “small tweaks” be functionally or audibly different than the initial batch of Angle Grinders?

Re: Highest Fidelity Eurorack Power & Output Solution

Read Chris Meyer's conversations on power supplies over at LearningModular.com. He did a lot of research into this for his monster modular. Basic ingredients: the biggest-ass linear supplies you can handle, budget/space/weight-wise. Aluminum bussbars for all supply voltages. Genus Modu boards. Heav...

Re: BeetTweek - A Force Feed-Back Eurorack DSP Module

Since you're using an actual kinetic electric motor, I would be worried (maybe just curious) about any noise that this would inject into the power network in a mid-to-large system. Especially with cheap switching PSUs, some digital modules can send all manner of noise into the system. Don't get me w...

Re: Who makes custom blind panels?

Magpie Modular makes blank panels of all sizes, in natural aluminum or black. Every time I order from them, I make a point of also ordering two or three blanks in a BUNCH of sizes. After shopping with them for years I have all the blanks I will ever need, and they all look perfectly uniform.

My fellow victims of the Archimedes Kickstarter : I've long since abandoned any hope of getting any truth or recompense from Scott Metzger. Nevertheless, a few months ago, I had the opportunity to buy one of three or so prototypes of the Archimedes module. It sucked buying something I had already pa...

Re: Instruo Lúbadh stereo looper

When there has been a hardware problem, I haven't heard of a single instance where Instruo didn't go to great efforts to make it right. I have a number of Instruo modules. I have never noticed as much as a glitch with any of their analog modules. It could be that they just aren't as experienced with...

Re: Moog Subsequent 37

I can't speak for anyone else, but I consider a "snappy" envelope to have an attack stage that is less than 2ms. The classic Moog 911 env generator had an an attack speed that was 2ms at its fastest. The Sub37's env generator's fastest attack speed is 0.1ms -- much "snappier."

Re: The elusive 'all black' panel themed euro systems

Magpie Modular always makes black panels for Mutable modules. However, Emilie doesn't release her module specs and software until she has recouped her initial R&D costs, which is typically at least a year after a module is first released. So just relax, we'll get them. Just hang tight. This is how i...

Hey Erica DIYers I bought the Erica Duophonic MIDI-CV interface years ago and sometime in the past year the CV out quit working, and Erica won't service them anymore. I don't know why and I'm not much of a DIY person, at least not on that level. I'm guessing any of you competent DIYers could diagnos...

Re: Erica Synths Black Joystick 2

I had purchased an Intellijel Planar 2, even though I try to maintain an all-black system. I felt like I didn't have a choice because the Planar 2 was the only joystick controller that had a motion record function.

I think I can just sell my Planar 2 and trade up, now.

Thank you, Erica!

Re: Instruo arbhar granular processor

Short answer: No.

You can pre-order at Control, and there is one on Reverb that is obnoxiously overpriced, presumably to take advantage of the current low inventory.

But it is still a relatively new module and more will be made. You just might have to wait a couple months.

Re: most detailed distortion module

On the surface, different kinds of distortion are really about just choosing different flavors. "Control" over the distortion is really more about how hard you hit the distortion circuit, how you employ feedback, how (or if) you mix it with the original signal, as well as EQ both before and after di...

Re: What do you spend on monitoring?

Monitors, headphones, sonic treatment -- these are all just tools. We have different needs and desires; different situations require different tools. If you are only using your modular for your own enjoyment , and have no interest in other people hearing your music, then whatever monitors you're co...

Re: Vermona MeloDICER

The meloDICER has a gate out obviously, and you have control over it, but it is really only intended to complement the melody CV. The Vermona RandomRhythm is their trigger/gate sequencer (with a very similar user interface), although it is probability based instead of Euclidean, and might not be wha...

Over the past six months, I spent a lot of time researching both the omsonic SIG and the Vermona MeloDICER , watching every video and reading anything I could find. The only melody module that actually works like Mutable Grids, with completely reproducible melodies, is TiNRS Tuesday. Everything else listed AFAIK, are melody modules built around probabilities, with no guarantee of reproducible results.

Someone can please correct me if I'm wrong.

As much as I love coming up with clever names for things, I actually prefer boring, descriptive names for modules. The Vermona fourMative Contours has four envelopes that can be tied together sequentially with its "sum" input. That is, envelope B is triggered the instant that envelope A finishes its release segment, and the composite CV signal all comes out of one output. They envelopes can also affect each oth...

This is one of a number of threads on MW lately with which I don't know how to engage without violating the "no politics" rule.
