Re: Drum machine recommendations for OT

Since I am using the OT as my main sequencer, the drum machine having its own was irrelevant to me. I ultimately would like the MD for its sound/flexibility but was looking at lower cost options such as the r8 or XD-5(those two seemed to appeal to me more at the time of the post). I appreciate all t...

Re: Drum machine recommendations for OT

I suppose I am after something that can cover my bases if I wanted to get a little abstract. I think that is what was drawing my towards the xd-5 in the first place. I suppose if I want just 909 stuff I can run that as samples from the OT. To answer your question, I like to jam with some typical 4x4...

Drum machine recommendations for OT

Hi everyone. I am looking to get a drum machine as a companion to use in a small setup for jamming with my Octatrack MK1 and some other synth(using a TD3 atm). Ideally, I would get a machinedrum, but I would like to keep my cost down a bit. I have been looking at something like a Roland R8 or Kawai ...

Make sure you put the channel(s) your using for midi at 9 or greater. Octatrack defaults to using 1-8 for internal tracks. You should be able to do midi in to the octatrack at ch 9 for example and have the thru/out cable go to your synth that receives at ch 9 and play it.

I suggest the octatrack also. While the learning curve is steep, you could do what your looking for with it fairly easily.

Thanks everyone for the responses! I am going to do a bunch of testing and try the stuff mentioned to narrow it down further. I will post if I find a cause or solution!

Octatrack with Yamaha TX81z - Midi data error?

Hi, I recently got a TX81z off of ebay to use with my Octatrack and get sweet FM bells going through the arp. All started off well but about the second day of use the TX81z started to "freeze" notes or note trigger them entirely for a few cycles then start playing them again. Occasionally I would ha...

Update.... tried it, didn’t work. There something in the ep booster that the power likes a guitar being plugged into it but does not like anything else plugged into it. Sorry for the time wasting.

Cool thanks for the reply! I have a mic in on my mixer that I have used successfully before so I will just continue with that. I thought if the ep booster worked it would give me a more portable solution since it can be battery powered.

Xotic ep booster as mic pre amp for octatrack?

I was curious if any one has ever tried to use a preamp type fx pedal as a mic preamp? I have the ep booster that I use for guitar and I got the idea to use it to boost a mic signal(sm57) with it into my octatrack. Xlr to 1/4” into pedal then into OT. :hmm:

I think it is well known that as the timbre knob/slider is increased awesomeness is proportionally increased. That is science.

I had a problem with cables on back order back in march. I had ordered cables and they were back ordered when I called asked what was delay. They answered quickly and were helpful resolving the issue. They ended up giving me long cables for the same price just to get it out the door. I have had past...

Modcan A is clearly 5u and is on that forum but is also permitted here because of bananas. Bugbrand seems to be frac but bananas and is discussed here on occasion. EMS doesn't even fit but is here as well. It seems that this particular place is quite the island of misfit toys. I know the thought doe...

1.2v TKB

Hi,

Would it be possible to calibrate a Serge TKB to use the 1.2v/oct as well as pulses that work with buchla format? Just curious if any one has done this or nows if is not possible due to design. I have seen djangosfire's video where he uses a 257r to make it work.

Thanks,
Matt

I'm pretty sure this is the part number from mouser 108-00357-EV. These are for the caps that are on the BOM for some builds that use sliders.

There is an old yahoo group post about how to do this. I thought is was about putting some form of lfo shape into a self cycling dusg cv input. I would use one half of a dusg into the other to make it happen and adjust the rise and fall to taste.
