Re: Waldorf STVC - let's discuss

They really sound about the same (I mean the Streichfett and the STVC). The keyboard version is a tiny bit "cleaner" to me but again, my brain might be playing tricks on me. And yes, the vocoder is a plus. And "digital pads machine" is not a description to disregard the Waldorf string machines, as t...

Re: Waldorf STVC - let's discuss

The behringer IS real.
The Waldorf sounds great, has far more possibilities, but screams "digital pads machine".

That's how analogue sync works. Did tou say it was actually starting /stopping before? Is the socket an actual trs with both the clock and start stop functions then?

Re: Waldorf STVC - let's discuss

It's slightly more "in your face" sounding than the module, but it might be my mind. The module sounds really nice, but not like a "real" string machine. So does this one. It sounds more like a string machine once you process it, eq and all, recorded low fi. Not bad at all, can be HUGE on some setti...

Re: [SPLIT] Alternative Firmware(s) for Mutable Instruments Stages

Sorry if it has been mentioned before, but is there a cheatsheet somewhere for this firmware? The downside of this amazingly rich take on STAGES is its burgeoning complexity for people like me who are victims of memory loss... Thanks!

Re: Anyone with experience of Tesseract Tex Mix

I have the 4 monos as well as the 4 stereos modules. Does anybody else hace the monos overcolouring the sound? It's impossible to get a sine sounding like a sine with those. The 4 monos really brings a huge amount of harmonies. And yes, past half the volume range on some channel and it starts to cl...

Eventide SPACE. the Big Sky is obviously brilliant, but to me you have to get the right setting. A lot of it is actually meh. On the cheaper side of things, the TC electronics Hall Of Fame 2 is sealed to my aux send. Fast to use and all the settings are usable. ZOOM CDR. you owe to yourself to get t...

A-143-4 Quad VCLFO/VCO THIS. also, anything by Mutable instruments. Braids and Plaita are obvious, as well as Tides, but I am especially fond of Stages in harmonic oscillator mode. Also Hexinverter's JUPITER STORM for the noisier side of things. It seems to have gone back under the radar recently b...

Re: Behringer 2600

Behringer notoriously tend to copy parts of original manuals and don't really check if things are accurate, hence my question. As for yours, it all depends of the modules obviously. It's not a question of what kind as much as which modules. Some manufacturers have protections on their inputs, some d...

I remember 25 years ago when you couldn't sell them. It was seen as a shittier TB303, which is so missing the point....

Re: Behringer 2600

Isn't that on the actual original Arp 2600? I thought it was "corrected" to be euro compatible by that guy (can't remember his name) who helped Behringer with their clone?
Could KSS or anybody else confirm?

Well I didn't actually sell this one but... I got a EMS VCS3 back in the 70s on 'hire purchase' but couldn't keep up the monthly payments and it had to go back to the shop. It took me another 45 years to replace it... with a Synthi A.
was the "hire purchase" a regular thing in England back then?

Re: What are you using for mixing oscillators?

VEILS. the VCAs are a major plus, of course, but as well how I can have some of my oscillators overdriving if I wish. also, Frames if I am in an evolving drone mood. or Frames with the modulation at audio rate if I want to create very complex waveforms out of my 4 inputs. yes, I am a Mutable fanboy,...

Re: opinions on behringer MS-1

noticed this screech overdrive on the two or three units I had, so I guess it's there on all of them if they didnt adjust this under the hood over the past year. there's a final "mixer" stage after the vca & volume knob with too little headroom. If you don't turn volume fully up that solves it, but...

It's past 90percents actually... and yes, of course, but in the heat of the moment..
My original 101 (and all the previous ones I owned/played) doesn't have that behaviour. The ms101diesn't distort in the pleasant way we expect, but instead, well, crackles..

I think right now it's my (Behringer) 2600. SUCH a well-thought-out machine, gorgeous sound and (what's possibly even more important) also amazing usability. I’m VERY interested in your experience with it. It’s something I’ve had my eye on, but very reluctant to pull the trigger on. I tried it. I c...
