Re: Beads vs Clouds

There’s a difference between not knowing how to do something, and it being impossible to do something.

I’m not sure which it is RE Beads though...

Re: Beads vs Clouds

Beads has a CV input that can be assigned in various amounts to different parameters, one of which is wet/dry.

In case you didn’t know...

Re: Beads vs Clouds

The only way to tell is how it behaves differently with different versions. But it’s going to be way easier to just load the one you want to use. Don’t forget to calibrate afterwards.

Re: How did you pick your sequencer?

Saw a prototype of Vector at Knobcon a few years ago. Was pretty impressed, but it was big, fairly expensive, and you could only get 2 channels of CV. (This was before the expander existed). Got a demo of what was basically the finished version (don’t think it had started shipping yet) at the follow...

Hey, a light should come on under “out” (lower right corner) when it’s making sound through the main output, correct?

Re: New WMD Performance Mixer

I’ve said this in a few threads, but inline headphone volume controls are a great thing to have around. They’re less than 10 bucks, and though I use them more for CV, there are times when their intended function is just what you need.

Re: Hexinverter Mindphaser - Complex Oscillator

I’m glad this wasn’t on my radar 3 years ago when he first started talking about it- that would have been a long wait! I ordered direct in Feb and got it today, 3 months isn’t bad at all. What a beast this thing is! The only other complex oscillator I’ve owned was Double Helix, which is like a kids’...

Re: New WMD Performance Mixer

I haven’t stopped using other VCAs, but I do enjoy using the ones on the PM mixer in addition. It can sound different when you’re using the FX sends.

Re: quad operator bank by humble audio

That’s a good way to look at- I too don’t really try to use it between sessions, since there’s no way of telling what the saved states actually are.

Re: quad operator bank by humble audio

I said you can’t make patches that are COMPLETELY different from each other, in that they are going to share all the settings other than modulation, like ratio and shape. Sure, you can still make 2 patches that sound very different even when those others stay constant.

Re: quad operator bank by humble audio

I don’t think I’d really miss the expander if I didn’t have it. Quad Operator by itself is 100% WYSIWYG. When using the expander, you have no idea what any of the modulation sends are set to. And as said above, it doesn’t do anything for the other parameters. So you lose something that I feel is a b...

Re: Noise Engineering Loquelic Iteritas

Most cases seem to have more than enough 5V power (if they have any), so I always use it when there’s an option to.

Any reasons why one wouldn’t?

Re: Learning question on 512 Vector Sequencer

I love Jim, but the Vector manual is not nearly as well-written as Numerology's. The first section, on parts, for example, doesn't actually tell you how to bring up the the Part 1 page (pressing the Part button certainly doesn't do it). It lacks a top down overview, as well. Not sure which version ...

Re: FIVE12 Eurorack Vector Sequencer

Dumb question for you all since my Vector arrived yesterday and still learning it. So if I have a VCO connected to pitch 2 how would i setup a sequence on the second oscillator? I read that Vector uses parts that have a 1:1 mapping to pitch, velocity and gate if I am understanding the manual correc...

Audio Damage Sequencer 1 can do this. It’s actually a great sequencer, but seems a bit skimpy next to more recent multitrack and/or polyphonic ones.

The last couple of days I've been having a great time exploring the Quad Operator by Humble Audio. It's really deep, surprisingly intuitive for an FM oscillator, and sounds amazing.

Yep. As long as you aren’t in Skip mode, clicking the encoder mutes the step. The gate is still there, just not transmitted.

Re: PEAKS DMC LFO mode 1 missing

Just a wild ass guess, but does Pique with expander require a specific firmware? This is the case with some of the Clouds variations, and if you load firmware that wasn’t made for them, they behave really weirdly. Looks like Michigan Synth Works IS trying to help you troubleshoot. But I can understa...

The 2OPFM does not have a keyed power header. But mine also didn’t have a mark for -12V. Red stripe is down though.
