Re: Synthesis Technology E370 Menus/Loading

The load/save preset system in the e370 saves/loads the entire state of the module at once. Not including the position of the pots, so you’ll have to factor that in.

Re: Eurorack Pitch Quantizer Comparison

Not feeling terribly motivated about adding the Flame Tame. Maybe some day. It would help if the DAC resolution and voltage range were known. The DAC resolution is unknown but if some day you feel motivated everything else is there, and thanks again for these very useful lists : Ok, ok… added. :sb:

Re: Eurorack Pitch Quantizer Comparison

I’ve updated the comparison with the Bastl 1983 and I went ahead and implemented Cpaf’s suggested use of sticky header rows. If the latter wears well, I’ll roll it out on the other comparisons. Would be nice to get DAC resolution and voltage range for the 1983—probably have to ask Bastl. Not feeling...

Re: Looking at a few of these sequencers to tack on to my Moog Semis

Given you’re trying to replace a fussy sequencer with something direct, buying another small, dense sequencer on the basis of HP is dubious thinking. Solve the case problem first, or maybe go outboard with a 0-Ctrl or SQ-1? (Or, as Nightly Closures points out, take advantage of MIDI?)

Re: The Buchla 200e preset manager as a performance tool

I wonder if there’s any possibility to update the preset system so it can change on a clock pulse without losing the rhythm? Maybe only some modules would need updating? Or is there just too much latency? Perhaps I misunderstand the exact nature of the limitation?

Re: Question on EG re-triggering.

Got it. So the module needs to have a re-trigger input to be able to re-trigger from an external source; there's no other way to re-trigger it from, say, a keyboard's gate CV without that. I just wanted to make sure. Well, not exactly. I finally figured out what you’re asking about. Some ADSR modul...

Re: Question on EG re-triggering.

Retriggering isn’t typically accomplished through a separate input. Retriggering just means that the envelope restarts (or doesn’t) when a new trigger or gate arrives at the regular input while the envelope is already performing a cycle. Different designs of envelope generators behave differently to...

Yes, normal behavior. Patch through a VCA when you need to. Nice short take by mosorensen. No substitute for studying the technical map. Three Sisters is an amazing, but nuanced circuit. Thanks a lot for that info, makes me quite a bit less anxious about not having enough preamps.. in actual fact I'll probably just put everything straight into the line level inputs.
As with all studio wiring challenges, expect the worst, hope for the best.

Re: Multi Track recording DB25 to Snake Cable question

Thanks for the detailed post. How important would you consider the preamps to be as I always record straight into line inputs but having used the post fader levels. Do you think prefader might be too quiet? I know in the video Alex says it's fine for him without preamps but I guess that might just ...

Re: Multi Track recording DB25 to Snake Cable question

You definitely want to stick with balanced snakes to your interface, either DB25-to-TRS or DB25-to-XLR, depending on your interface’s requirements. Or the third option, DB25-to-DB25, if your interface supports that. I wrote an overview of strategies . The whole pre-fader/post-fader thing is a dead h...

WMD manufactures the PM in batches. You just have to stay on top of it and snap one up when available. It looks like ModularSquare in Paris might have one available right now (looking on Reverb). You can also check wigglehunt.

Re: Recommendations for specific type of mixer.

I just discovered this thread as I am also looking for a mixer, mainly controlling the 8 outputs of my Assimil8or sampler. Maybe a stupid question, but how do you get all the channels to an outboard mixer? I guess I would need 8 output modules e.g. intellijel out + jacks. You could potentially do s...

Re: Recommendations for specific type of mixer.

An outboard mixer seems like a good idea, though an ER unit with CV control is appealing as well. The flexibility and much lower cost of an external mixer is definitely appealing though. I'm concerned about the quality of the mixers I'm seeing, though, like Mackie, Soundcraft, etc. -- they're very ...

They’re pretty much all here: https://doudoroff.com/mixers/

That said, the particular mix of features you’re specifying is rare, particularly the individual mix outputs. What do you have in mind for those?

Re: Rossum Electro-Music Assimil8or

Im looking at using the 8 outputs on the boss bow to trigger the assimil8or While the eight outputs of the BBT will map neatly to the eight inputs of the A8, the “general weakness” would be that only one output on the BBT will be active at a time, so you would only trigger one A8 channel at a time....

Re: Recommendations for slew limiter or multi-function slew limiter modules?

WMD Time Warp seems like an ideal way to add two more flexible slews next to a Maths in a space-efficient manner, especially if you have a suitable gate source for those nifty gate inputs. But I suppose it depends what you’re actually doing with all these slews.
