For me the ER-M offered the most flexibility in one box, combined with some kenton thrus, for working from the computer or from HW sequencers. It works as a 4 output usb hub (locked to the audio clock) so you can sequence from ableton, the midi in can re-route the output of my master keyboard (usefu...

http://www.musictechnologiesgroup.com/lcd_upgrades.htm#r100 I've yet to pull the trigger for my R-100s as the 2nd one I bought, price was too good to refuse, came with the CP-2 ROM by random chance! I still kinda want to outfit them both with the 3 ROM switcher so I can load one up with other sounds...

About %90 of the sounds in my ESX are 2 - 4 bar long chains of single hits... takes some of the sting out of the long winded loading process, cos when you're done you've got dozens of new sounds to play with! Since starting to do this I don't really use the editor anymore, makes for lots of happy ac...

I do similar stuff by running sounds thru Redux / Overdrive / Filter / Saturation chains on the way to my S3000XL or when making sounds for my ESX... totally different vibe to putting sounds into old samplers tho. For totally trashed sounds (junked tape, blown out SK-1 etc.) it might be a better opt...

I'm in the studio now and everything is pretty solid. :sb: Was thinking along the lines of being able to mute the clock on all but one of the ZAQs or taking a 'pure' midi clock from the sync source around the note generators into the merge :hmm: I have been trying to figure something similar lately...

That sounds good, with the drum machines all running off of DIN. Ideally the zaquencers could be set up to not pass clock signals... but I don't think that can be done, maybe a worthwhile feature request that would make setting up multi-zaq rigs easier... I know every tie I plug the zaq in I kinda w...

E-RM has built in merge. You can route normal (non clock) midi from the input to the outputs. If your E-RM has the usb port you can also send midi from ableton to each output. Not 100% sure if this will enable what you need... I have mostly used the E-RM midi in for master keyboard to sequencer &...

I don't think you need those opto parts tbh. Here is a variation I use; https://www.muffwiggler.com/forum/userpix2/207_plzdly_1.jpg pretty sure the PNP/NPN set-up there will work with 556s as well. Either way it's a fun one to breadboard if you have the parts on hand as it is very hackable; connect ...
