Re: Polyphonic MIDI sequencers/controllers for generative/drone/experimental

Love to learn about other sequencers that do intertrack modulation. I think Koma Komplex could do. Intertrack modulation of Nemo and Octopus is restricted. Upper track can modulate the lower. But not backwards. A drag. by its very nature, intertrack modulation is 'restricted'. I think that you are ...

Re: Electronic music - composition and abstract story telling.

if im speding 2 weeks working on a song - you damn well bet i want the answer to 2 to be yes! what good is wasting time making music if no one else other than me enjoys it. I agree. Any serious artist - by which I don't mean someone who frowns all day - wants to find and appeal to an audience, whet...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

i just sent them a rather insane request. I doubt it will be implemented, but i'd love something like this. basic - unlimited tempo range, positive and negative, with modulation. Have reference to 'real time' in case the tempo goes to 0.... negative tempo would just mean that the thing plays backwar...

Re: Polyphonic MIDI sequencers/controllers for generative/drone/experimental

hah - the timefrog. I got one because it looked so cool, and the proclaimed functionality was cool, but i just couldn't figure it out - and as i recall the docs were beyond useless. Are those still made? it's curious that he never tried to help people actually use the damn thing.

Re: Polyphonic MIDI sequencers/controllers for generative/drone/experimental

I know that you are not a big friend of the Nemo, Nelson. For my music it fits well. And featurewise it is hard to compete even after 20 years. Besides the Nemo if it comes to step sequencing - straightforward or experimental -I use an Octopus or a P3. Evolving pattern sequencing is real fun. Espec...

Re: Polyphonic MIDI sequencers/controllers for generative/drone/experimental

there are multiple sequencers that have intertrack modulation. not sure what 'complete' means here. This one is made with a FS1r (synthsounds) and a MU90 (piano, drums) controlled by Genoqs Nemo using step sequences. Step sequences are short preprogrammed arpeggios or rythmical structures that can b...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

What I would really want in a video like this is some kind of excursion that shows you some of the more adventurous things that you could actually do with this sequencer vs some of the others, rather than just a walk through of feature by feature. I think you hit the nail on the head. I was a littl...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

i want to emphasize that the issues that I had were with indiegogo solely, and that my interactions with oxi have been great. I should also clarify what i wrote about the loopop video. My point was that I don't think that he really gets sequencers, not that this was a luke warm review to the oxi one...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

I was unable to successfully pre-order. Wells fargo bank considered the initial attempt "suspicious", but i verified it online, and they said to retry it. Declined again. Bank says that it's approved but being declined by the "merchant". Whom exactly do I speak to? this is infuriating, but of course...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

Nelson has owned more cool sequencers than most people could ever hope to see pictures of online. Do not pee in his cornflakes- you will regret it. Lol, ok well owning lots of sequencers and actually knowing how they work and using them are two completely different things. His comments really don't...

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

ah - sorry. I just think that loopop doesn't get sequencers. or even really like them. I get the sense that he feels that it's his job to occasionally review them, but he'd rather not. He generally doesn't go into some of the details like - with all of these generative features, where does the oxi ...

I took it as him trying not to dig too deeply into parts of the system that are most likely to change before release. Or are still full of bugs.

Reviewing a prototype is nothing like reviewing a finished product.

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs

...... Second, OXI One aim is broad. Things that are irrelevant to some are key for others. Making a huge ass sequencer with 32 knobs, 200 vel and pressure sensitive pads, 8 din outputs, 32 cv outputs is definitely a minority thing. ..... i think that the size is perfect. There was the Genoqs Octop...

Re: Polyphonic MIDI sequencers/controllers for generative/drone/experimental

good god, i loathed the nemo. the octopus is a very nice instrument (and extremely large), so I figured I'd get the nemo, which supposedly shared the same features and ui, but i did not find that to be the case at all. I found the ui to be extremely compromised - it's been years, but as i recall, th...

Re: Polyphonic MIDI sequencers/controllers for generative/drone/experimental

i've almost given up posting in sequencer threads..... all sequencers have fatal flaws. The more powerful they are, the more they force you into their way of working and their limitations, and so you can't accomplish other things you want, or work the way you want, etc. the only thing i'll offer her...

curious. i will have to try again with 4/4. I got a similar answer in the squarp forum. The guy was actually rather surprised - he found this change in the changes for firmware 4. It just referred to issues, though I'm not sure what they can be. But it is typical to other issues i've found with the ...

What time signature are you using?
had it at 4/4, but now i have it at 16/4 (easier to get non-standard track lengths). didn't work with either. but why should that matter?
