Re: my encounter with 'less is more'
Fuck. And I read my post incorrectly to start with. This is actually about Les Ismore, and old college buddy of mine. Sorry for the mistake.

Re: my encounter with 'less is more'
well, enough of a rant. 2 hours is enough to spend tonight trying to figure out where my sound went. What happened what happened what happened? The suspense is killing me. :hihi: P.s. Sometimes I just shit everything g down, go sit in the couch with my laptop and make music completely in the box. H...

Re: my encounter with 'less is more'
More instruments means less time to play each of them (if you distribute your time equally). Realizing that stopped my GAZ (mostly...). but fewer instruments means fewer combinations of them to explore. You can look at your setup as consisting of individual instruments, or as one big one, and if yo...

Re: KODAMO EssenceFM - 300 Voice 16 Part Multitimbral FM Rack
I had one of these some months ago, and i used my laziness as an excuse to reclaim the space and get some $. But I missed it.... just ordered another one from Reverb. I screwed up - thought i was ordering a mk2, but it was blatantly a mk1. no big deal. One inspiration was encountering some tracks on...

Re: my encounter with 'less is more'
well, yeah. playing with another person brings in another component. but does he sometimes come up with cool stuff as a result of this switching around ('wow, you never got something like that going before?') or is it generally counterproductive? I always feel that in some sense i learn from the tro...

my encounter with 'less is more'
Well, i have made fun of people for using this cliche, but hell. I do think that it's a cliche (meaning in some sense that it contains some truth but is way over-simplistic), but i would succumb that that lazy verbiage right now. I feel like i'm close finally to having the system that I want, but th...

Re: Waldorf Kyra FPGA Synth: 128 voices, 10 Osc/voice!
well, i find myself curious about the kyra. As usual, i suspect that most people who have reviewed these, or have compared them to a virus (the synth, that is) don't make the degenerate incompetent music that I tend to favor. And from what i can tell, Access has pretty much completely abandoned supp...

Re: Want sequencer for my 0-Coast
i've probably used more sequencers than all but a very few people on this board, but i just no longer touch threads like this. have you done your homework? the word 'powerful' doesn't mean much. What do you want to be able to do, beyond just sequencing notes and some basic parameters in a basic way?...

Re: Squarp Instruments Hapax Polychronic Performance Sequencer
just want to confirm - looks like recording is similar to that on the pyramid in that you can set it to loop mode, and then record in high resolution (192 ppq) for an undetermined length. Is this pretty much unlimited? Will I be able to record for say 10 minutes? (mine is on the way. hoping that it ...

Re: Waldorf Iridium
The more powerful a synth is, the more areas for improvement also exist. So, sometimes threads about them tend to degenerate into what seems like whining, when the presupposition is that it's fucking great that these features are there, and for the most part implemented really well. My whines thus f...

waldorf q editors that actually work?
ah, the days of sounddiver. I mean - it worked. I could count on it.... I bought the soundtower editor. It is a joke. I don't think it has been edited in 15 years. Their support seems to acknowledge it, but the responses have been slow.... I tried the mystery island editor. it's a nicer visual prese...

Re: Waldorf Iridium
what an interesting machine....i was messing with the sequencer yesterday, trying to see if i could extend its capabilties somehow (it is missing some obvious stuff like ratcheting), etc.... but in browsing the thread at GS, I saw (and verified today, though haven't yet tried) - you can use midi lea...

Re: Waldorf Iridium
Have you checked modulation for the presets? Maybe there's vel -> osc vol somewhere that's my current thinking - that it has something to do with modulation. The manual states rather unambiguously that if the mix is set to 0 no audio will pass through, but i do think that it's more complicated than...

Re: Waldorf Iridium
I'll try here first.... the manual states "In the Oscillator Mixer section you control the volumes of the three oscillators. If an oscillator volume dial is turned fully counterclockwise, no signal is passed." ok. i was very puzzled last night, so played with it a little bit just now. I cr...

Re: New poly synth/synth company - ASM Hydrasynth
i can put the hydrasynth right next to another synth, and very, very quickly set up a macro to control parameters on both synths simultaneously.
I'm sure that modulation-wise, there are softsynths that go far beyond anything available in hardware. That is obvious, I think.

Re: New poly synth/synth company - ASM Hydrasynth
I think that there are many of us who don't particularly enjoying working with softsynths. I've tried quite a few of them, but i'm not drawn to any of them. The bitwig grid looks very nice, but that's kind of a different game - kind of like the nord modular. I wouldn't suggest that there aren't soft...

Re: New poly synth/synth company - ASM Hydrasynth
well, as it turns out, there is a hydrasynth editor, by a company called sigabort. it didn't turn up in my searches, but loopop mentioned it in a video. It actually seems to work very well, so i bought it. one doesn't so much need an editor for it, but it's nice to see all the mods in one place, etc...

Re: New poly synth/synth company - ASM Hydrasynth
i checked out some stuff, but there is no information on whether this works with the newer hydra models, and no direct way to contact. I don't think he's trying to scam people, but i used suspicious in the context of - if i buy this and it doesn't work, what do i do if there is no way to contact him?

Re: OXI ONE - Powerful and expressive sequencer for DAW, MIDI gear and Modular rigs
just want to confirm that i'm not missing something in the manual. it looks like when you record a sequence, the oxi only records the notes, and not any cc events. is that correct? not a huge complaint - but that would sure be nice if it could pick up the cc events (hah - especially the poly afterto...
