Re: Roland JD-08 Thoughts?

I've been powering mine with one of the usb-c power cables that comes with the charger to the macbook pro. Those are pretty beefy. How about searching for: "usb c cable for macbook charger" Looks like a few good options are available. Edit: I only power it though, and have not connected it...

Re: Roland JD-08 Thoughts?

Got mine too. I am not very familiar with the original JD other than I always loved the pads, so I can't compare them. I had plans to start getting into it last night, but basically ended up just playing presets all night. It sounds wonderful, very recognizable 90s and very inspiring sounds, melodie...

Re: "Gate Boost" module suggestions

I use a “Gate Booster” that member Fuzzbass designed for the TTSH ARP 2600 clone that boosts a 5v gate to 11v and adds a trigger out as well. People usually build it into the TTSH but I built it into a mini jack interface for general purpose. Gerber file is out there , or you can buy it from SynthCu...

Re: Black Corporation "ISE-NIN" (new 8-voice poly..)

There is reason for the old saying: ‘Why buy one, when you can build it yourself for twice the price.”
That, of course, is just me being silly, but build one because you love it, not to try to save money.

Re: dotcom power button

Just got this one in the mail. It's illuminated (3-24 volt, I'm piggybacking on the 5 volt) which give a nice gentle glow. I picked blue because why not, but it's also available in different variants. IMG_3388.JPG I like it! In case someone is interested, this is the one I got: https://www.amazon.co...

Re: dotcom power button

These are awesome suggestions! Unfortunately Covid made me lose access to the workshop at work, so I lost the ability laser etch panels. Maybe I should learn screen printing so I can keep making modules just for fun, without breaking the bank. Either way, since I can't make new panels for the time b...

dotcom power button

Hi all, Having accumulated my system over some time I have two Q101 power control modules with different on/off buttons. It's been like that for many years, and I always intended to fix that, so maybe time has come. Here for the question - does anyone know of a nice button that would look good? Some...

okto wrote: Mon Jun 28, 2021 5:30 pm oWo what's this? $300 for a kit is enticing, and honestly I'm (personally) more after the sound and the controls than I am a complete replica.
$300 is just the PCB preorder.
The PCB's actual cost is $1000, then probably an additional $250 for case/panel and at least $1500+ for components.

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

Hey Chrutil, did you get your issue straightened out? Hey, the voice mards mainly work, but I still don't have the FilterType and Notch filter sorted. Lowpass works beautifully, highpass seems to work too, but I have no control of the Notch CV and I'm not sure what the problem is. The vactrol/LED p...

I am in too! very nice! But like the original project, no crappy SMT you don't want to repair that in 15years! Not to derail the discussion, very interested in seeing where this goes too, but of all the complaints about SMT, this is the one that I agree with the least. Excluding anything smaller th...

You mean the flat round led?
Mine is flush with the panel and needs no support.
Don’t see how it could be bent as long as the panel is on?

So it is always the same voice?
Did you try moving the voice card around to verify if it is the actual voice card or the location?

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

The only issues I've had with the FMB3904 so far are bad solder joints. Oh interesting. No artifacts between 130-180Hz? With your setup up and running, if you have a chance, could you measure the voltage range that is sent to the NFCV pin, and does it have any effect when twiddling it? I'm assuming...

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

Thanks for the update Chrutil. I hope to start building my 8-voice system, but I guess I should try building the voice cards first and then design a rig to test them. This would at least give me a reason to dive into CircuitStudio. Thanks Ultravox - I replaced the remaining FMB3904 and now both voi...

Qapla' Got a set of LM3046M in the mail and replaced the FMB3904 on one oscillator and the frizzy artifacts are gone! Yay, I'll jump on replacing the remaining three on my two voice cards and come back with the results. It does seem that the FMB3904 won't work in the crowbx - or maybe that was just ...

Re: Dotcom Panel wiring vs. Panel PCBs

I am currently working on a 4MU module that has 33 pots and switches and 20 connectors. This would be a nightmare if assembled with panel wired components. I feel ya' The first module I built had 35 pots, 44 switches, 33 LEDs and 16 jacks. All using panel wiring. It was a joy (not). Needless to say...
