Re: crOwBX 8-voice

Hey Chrutil, did you get your issue straightened out? Hey, the voice mards mainly work, but I still don't have the FilterType and Notch filter sorted. Lowpass works beautifully, highpass seems to work too, but I have no control of the Notch CV and I'm not sure what the problem is. The vactrol/LED p...

Re: [IC] vintage 6-voice polysynth kit project?

I am in too! very nice! But like the original project, no crappy SMT you don't want to repair that in 15years! Not to derail the discussion, very interested in seeing where this goes too, but of all the complaints about SMT, this is the one that I agree with the least. Excluding anything smaller th...

You mean the flat round led?
Mine is flush with the panel and needs no support.
Don’t see how it could be bent as long as the panel is on?

So it is always the same voice?
Did you try moving the voice card around to verify if it is the actual voice card or the location?

Plaits is a wonderful module, if I didn't already have four of them I'd get a couple of these.. :hihi:
Woven Spirits is such a great name for it too, nicely done Doug!

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

The only issues I've had with the FMB3904 so far are bad solder joints. Oh interesting. No artifacts between 130-180Hz? With your setup up and running, if you have a chance, could you measure the voltage range that is sent to the NFCV pin, and does it have any effect when twiddling it? I'm assuming...

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

Thanks for the update Chrutil. I hope to start building my 8-voice system, but I guess I should try building the voice cards first and then design a rig to test them. This would at least give me a reason to dive into CircuitStudio. Thanks Ultravox - I replaced the remaining FMB3904 and now both voi...

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

Qapla' Got a set of LM3046M in the mail and replaced the FMB3904 on one oscillator and the frizzy artifacts are gone! Yay, I'll jump on replacing the remaining three on my two voice cards and come back with the results. It does seem that the FMB3904 won't work in the crowbx - or maybe that was just ...

Re: Dotcom Panel wiring vs. Panel PCBs

I am currently working on a 4MU module that has 33 pots and switches and 20 connectors. This would be a nightmare if assembled with panel wired components. I feel ya' The first module I built had 35 pots, 44 switches, 33 LEDs and 16 jacks. All using panel wiring. It was a joy (not). Needless to say...

Re: Mutable Instruments Plaits in MU

Ok, the PCB's look fine, it's the same Gerbers as mine are made from. Do you maybe have a photo of the populated board? I took one of mine apart and got a few photos below. Maybe this could help. You might have to download them for the highest resolution. For programming, I installed the Mutable Vag...

Re: PPG waves in eurorack wavetable oscillators?

For a synth with so few parameters, there are an amazing number of things you can do with the PPG. For my own preference I rarely sweep the wavetable, I think that too often disrupts the melodic part of the sounds, but I more or less always use both oscillators, and for the typical metallic, or bell...

Re: Mutable Instruments Plaits in MU

Thanks for the great design, wanted to add plaits to my modular. :yay: I am having a problem with it though, it is just dead, does nothing at all. It programmed ok (As far as I can tell?!) I have been over the entire schematic and all the right voltages are where they should be, there is continuity...

Re: PPG waves in eurorack wavetable oscillators?

Many years ago I was after the same thing, and got myself a Malekko Richter Megawave, which include the PPG wavetables in the ROM banks. For various reasons I (mainly the lack of a Eurorack power supply) I never ended up trying it out, and it is still sitting here unused. Eventually I just broke dow...

Re: Dotcom Panel wiring vs. Panel PCBs

I can't say I have ever thought about it. When I make my own modules I try to make it panel mount since I find wires a royal pain. However, when it comes to dotcom modules, and specifically their 1U modules, like the Q109 envelope and others I do have an issue with the wire connectors. The MTA-100 c...

Re: crOwBX 8-voice

Thanks guys! Turns out I have a problem on my cards. Both voice cards experience the same problem on both oscillators. The problems shows up as a 'frizzle' or instability around 130Hz-150Hz or 150Hz-180Hz (depending on voice card and oscillator). Here is a demonstration of the problem. It first star...

Hi all, Just my annual check-in on this project. I still only have two of my cards built, but I did build a digital test harness for it so I can now test the voice cards and experiment with additional programmability features and such. Here's a first test video of the thing in action: http://www.you...

Hmmm. OK. I see my bevel is up :( OK. I will order a new one. Thank you very much! Huh.. No I actually think you are good. I got curious so I took mine apart and took a few photos. I am pretty sure that they don't change the alignment of the text for the same component so I think you are good. The ...
